Thinking and re-thinking missionary issues. Personal Grief and the Social Media. I’m very active on Facebook with a fairly large number of Facebook friends . The question was whether I could consider them as close enough friends to share this deeply emotional news with? Why post something like this? All that it leads to is people wondering what had happened and commenting with: What is wrong? But I actually want to focus on the responses I had on my post. It has been said (and I’m one of those who sa...

Thinking and re-thinking missionary issues. My name is Nqobile. This is a testimony which was given by a learner in my wife’s maths class before the whole school, this past Monday. The girl gave me permission to publish it on my blog. Good morning fellow teachers and pupils. Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. By the way, my name is Nqobile, but I’m better known as Q . My name means ‘Conqueror’, ‘To triumph over’. Thursday, May 6, 2010. 3 On Bec...

Thinking and re-thinking missionary issues. First World Technology in a Third World Country. I’ve always been interested in technology (computers and anything related to it) and use this to the best of my ability, especially when I’m working in my office. As I’m away from my office fairly often, my cell phone has now become a handy device to check my email (and to do Facebook updates! Last week I was visiting a lady in her primitive house together with one of the caregivers of Shiselweni Home-Based Care.

Catchin' Some Waves: December 2014
http://nagsheader.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 21, 2014. With An Infant's Cry the War was Won. Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:. Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people He favors! When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.". But here a tiny infant was lowered into a manger – a box from which animals ate. And Hi...

Catchin' Some Waves: Holocaust Deja Vu
http://nagsheader.blogspot.com/2015/01/holocaust-deja-vu.html
Saturday, January 10, 2015. In 2010 I was privileged to visit Paris briefly and Grenoble for a week. Beautiful cities. One of the sites we were able to visit in Grenoble was a Holocaust museum. It provided an excellent look into the extreme troubles French Jews (and non-Jews who were sympathetic) suffered at the hands of an evil ideology, Naziism. I was are of the atrocities in Nazi death camps and the horrific medical experiments which used Jews as guinea pigs, but didn't the history in France. Glad to ...

Catchin' Some Waves: March 2015
http://nagsheader.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. A Most Controversial Man. Never one to shy from controversy, the short trek from Bethany to Jerusalem found Him with a growing crowd of the curious and the confessors. Just days before in the little suburb village the One who had become a sensation in both Galilee to the north and Judea to the south by His miraculous powers had done the impossible again. 8220;He raised a dead man to life. I saw it with my own eyes”. Maybe they just got caught up in the moment. Certainly they never...

Catchin' Some Waves: Is Yours a "Toxic Church?"
http://nagsheader.blogspot.com/2015/06/is-yours-toxic-church.html
Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Is Yours a "Toxic Church? I just came across this article. Today about toxic churches and how their poison destroys pastors. While there are certainly enough examples of square pegs in round holes and the power hungry serving as pastors, and there's plenty of blame to pass around as to why some churches can just never find the "perfect fit" from a pastor, I found this article telling. We had grown significantly in those first six months. Already we were seeing 40 in attendance...

Catchin' Some Waves: Hope Just in Time
http://nagsheader.blogspot.com/2015/06/hope-just-in-time.html
Thursday, June 18, 2015. Hope Just in Time. A young man who grew up a few houses down the street died suddenly last week. The life that led to his death at 34 did not leave us being totally surprised at the news, but at the same time totally sad. But I wrestled over the days leading up to today's service. What would I say? This morning I opened up the condolences posted on the site of the funeral home. Lots of sorrow. Lots of "in a better place" and "another angel" things. Many fond remembran...I know fo...
