They are so important because they support a fantastic variety of plants, as well as providing valuable habitat for wildlife to feed and nest in. Hogchester was just perfect - it was exactly what we wanted our holiday to be. The boys loved the cottage so much it was hard persuading them to come to the beach! The land at Hogchester forms its own valley surrounding the farmstead. The rich diversity of the landscape includes mature hedges, fields, streams, orchards, woodland, areas of coppice, a bog garden and lily ponds. As such it is a wonderful haven for wildlife. The natural water supplies, pretty streams (the main stream being named The Gwyle which joins the Char) together with the well established wildlife ponds are home to wild ducks, frogs, and many jewel coloured dragonflies.
