Welcome to The Count House, a holiday cottage in Devon. The Count House is tucked away in the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB), close to the pretty market town of Tavistock and the dramatic landscape of Dartmoor. Originally built as a mine office for the Devon Great United Copper Mines, it was left for nature to reclaim before being transformed into a cosy, comfortable and light filled holiday cottage which sleeps two. A peaceful and tranquil location. Nature on your doorstep.

Prices are set for the week but shorter stays are available, so please ask. Dogs are welcome, however they must be kept under control at all times. We can accommodate a maximum of two. There are plenty of walks that can be started from the doorstep. The Count House is next to an area known as Tamar Trails. Which was formerly the Great Devon Consul Mine. Now it is an expanse of woodland with 25km of well maintained tracks for walking and cycling. Mining Archaeology can still be seen amongst the trees to remind you of its past. Tamar Trails also offers bike hire, tree surfing and canoe trips. That starts in Plymouth and makes its way up through the valley to Launceston.

Staying in the Tamar Valley. The River Tamar forms the border between Devon and Cornwall for much of its length. There are few bridges across the river, and Horsebridge is one of the oldest, being built in 1437. The Tamar Valley winds between the granite uplands of Dartmoor and Bodmin moor and in places becomes narrow, with the river fast flowing.
