Unless they are particularly beautiful, I am now only really interested in the gastronomic side of fungi (psychedelic experiences are for the young in my opinion) but I still get a rush of excitement at sight of, say, an eruption of wood agarics. October 24, 2013. Bonfire and Open Weekend. I do love Autumn. Once you’ve got over that ‘end of summer’ feeling you realize that everything has come alive again in the woods. The fruit, nuts, fungi all spectacular this year the mist, the smells and, of course, the colours. We are celebrating it all at Hollington Wood with an open weekend Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October. As usual, the whole of the wood will be open to all 10am-5pm on both days with no admission charge. September 8, 2013.
