Hollingworth Bec – Project 8. Hollingworth BEC - Real world rich tasks. Prior to writing the poems, the students along with Mrs MacDonald and Mr Rowe (the two lead teachers), visited the slave trade exhibition at Liverpool Martine Museum to provide a greater understanding and insight into slavery. On returning to college, the students brainstormed ideas and worked alongside Sonia Hughes, a professional poet, to create their own poems. This has helped them to interpret what they saw to construct the poems.

Hollingworth Bec – Project 8. Hollingworth BEC - Real world rich tasks. Students from a Year 7 English class at Hollingworth BEC, lead by Head of Year Mrs Brown, Mrs Edmunds and their teacher Mr Larkin, went to local primary schools to interview Year 6 pupils about their move to high school. These interviews were recorded and turned into podcasts. Mr Larkin, Head of English and leader of the project, said, It was fantastic, I really enjoyed giving the children the power to create the podcasts themselves.
