Chronicling the restoration and history of one of Wellington's Victorian villas. Just thought I'd share this photo I took of the house and surrounds yesterday when I was out walking in the green belt above the suburb. It is quite a cool view of the house, showing how it is built on the crest of a rise just up from the city with the tower quite clearly protruding up higher than the neighbouring houses to make the most of the view. Can you spot Holly Lodge? The attic insulation is finally done!

We were lounging around the house yesterday, enjoying a nice balmy early summer's afternoon, when out of the blue one of our guests came out with "OMG, *beep* that *beep* house is on fire! Chronicling the restoration and history of one of Wellington's Victorian villas. Floorboard cleaning, and goodbye carpet! Last weekend we got stuck in and pulled up the carpet in the main hallway. The carpet was pretty old having been installed by Quentin in the 80s (and was probably second hand then! And was well past its use-by date, so we got it out of the house and said good riddance to it. Rolling up the old carpet in the hallway. Peeling up the edges by the bathroom. Afterwards, with a rug for now.
