Home-Start South West Kent. How To Support Us. Will I be the right sort of person to support a family? Our volunteers are of all ages and from all walks of life. All that we ask of you is that you have experience of bringing up children and can spare between two and four hours per week. What would visiting a family involve? What will I gain from being a volunteer? You will be helping a family to cope with the pressures they are facing and make a real difference to the lives of parents and their children.

Home-Start South West Kent. How To Support Us. All Home-Start volunteers attend a course of preparation before being linked with families.Most Courses are held one day per week for ten weeks. The course includes subjects that are relevant to the support that our volunteers offer the families. Volunteers can choose to have the course accredited though the Open College Network. Our volunteers have the opportunity to gain greater knowledge, to increase their confidence and learn new skills.

Home-Start South West Kent. How To Support Us. Home-Start Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells was begun in 1993 with our first volunteer preparation course being held in March. We expanded our area into Malling in January 2000 and became Home-Start South West Kent. The Home-Start service is sometimes more acceptable to families than Statutory Services. The fact that a volunteer chooses to visit them helps a family to feel valued and has an immediate effect on their self-esteem. Home-Start South West Kent, 2010.
