Monday, February 27, 2012. The Sound and Fury: A Review. This weekend I watched Sound and Fury. It's a documentary about two brothers. One brother is hearing and he married a hearing woman and they had twins, one of which is deaf. The other brother is deaf, married a deaf woman and has three deaf children. I encourage you to watch the movie because it is definitely one that will make you think about what it means to be hearing, about being a parent, and about this whole other community of people. 2 It sh...

Red Beans and Rice. Today is fall back day, my favorite morning of the year! Yes, even better than Christmas morning! Isn't it great to wake up with the sun shining in bright through the blinds, and you know you have a whole extra hour to do whatever you want? I soaked the beans overnight, and when I woke up at 7 (it felt like 8! I was able to prepare the whole dish with tons of time before church. I left the beans simmering while I was gone, and they were ready when I came home! Red Beans and Rice.

Running with Oliver: March 2012
http://runningwitholiver.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. New Job/New Running Group. On Monday night my sometime running buddy Dana and I checked out She Runs Columbia. It's fun running in a group and a nice distraction: I didn't think about how many miles I had to go or how tired or hot or thirsty I was. The only downside is not being able to set the pace or mileage. When we were running, we went at a perfect pace, but notice I said " When we were running. 3 miles with SRC (followed by a long walk with Oliver). Rest day (long walk).

Running with Oliver: Sewing Project #3: Tote Bag
http://runningwitholiver.blogspot.com/2012/03/sewing-project-3-tote-bag.html
Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Sewing Project #3: Tote Bag. Because I only ran one mile this past Sunday (and because Derek is at a work conference in Colorado), I had lots of time to finally finish my first tote bag. The project is courtesy of Home Ec Online. March 11, 2012 at 5:03 PM. You have such good taste. The bag looks great, practical too. I feel inspired to do some sewing now myself. Keep up the good work! March 12, 2012 at 6:21 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Columbia, Missouri, United States.

Stuffed Bunny for Delaney - requies

Stuffed Bunny for Delaney. Check out this cute little lady I made for my niece on her 2nd birthday! I used the instructions from that Home Ec. Course I'm always raving about. Right now my sewing machine is all packed up in a moving truck somewhere on his way to our new apartment. I can't wait to get him out and start sewing again! It's a he because it's a Brother machine.) In the meantime, I'll just post some old projects I've made but been too busy to write about. Then I drew this simple pattern. I left...

The Ponder Diva: January 2012
http://theponderdiva.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Project 10 is a zippered pencil bag. I learned today that putting zippers in bags are easier said than done. Overall it was an easy project; it just took a couple of tries to get the zipper in correctly. I also broke my seam ripper on the last project, so ripping out is pretty difficult without a seam ripper. If you are interested in sewing I would suggest a good, all metal seam ripper. I learned the hard way. I know that you are looking at this upside down? A bib for Kindall.

Enriching the Lives of our FACS students. Learn to sew online? I was browsing Pinterest the other night, and came across this post on Freckled Nest and came across an online Sewing Program. And if you are a 7th grader who is wanting to learn to sew and is not taking the 8th grade FACS classes here at school, this is your opportunity to learn some great techniques, all at your own pace. Drinks to warm your belly! In FACS4FUN yesterday we made homemade Hot Cocoa Mix. This is a simple mix that is much b...
