Home for Destitute Catholic Children. The Home for Destitute Catholic Children was an orphanage at 788 Harrison Avenue, Boston, Massachusetts. The Home was staffed by the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. In operation from 1864 until 1954, admissions ranged from 94 children the first year to a peak of 912 children in 1914. In 1951 there were about 200 children in residence at the home. During its 85 years of operation over 45,000 children were served by the Home.
