Run, Run, Run. Last weekend Ian and I successfully ran a 5k! Determined not to let the setbacks get in our way, we’ve both been extra careful and working hard to keep ourselves healthy and on the road of recovery. Over the past year I’ve been doing PT for my back and slowly getting stronger. Next post →. Cranking on China’s Limestone. Run, Run, Run. A Rough Account of the Hong Kong Protests. Tag Archives: Hong Kong. A Rough Account of the Hong Kong Protests. This post is a doozy. I originally started it October 15th after finally feeling like I had a handle on the Hong Kong protests. I’ve added a very short update on what has happened since I wrote it. In July I commented. Week 1: Sept 22nd – 26th. Week 2: Sept 27th – Oct 4th. What is going on in HK? Over the next week, there were calls for the current Chief Executive CY Leung to resign and requests for meetings between the students and Hong...

Cranking on China’s Limestone. The rock is limestone but less featured than Chiang Mai, similar to Yangshuo. Here is Kirsten and Felix belaying at Kowloon Peak, the first area we hit:. The next day we went to Wizard of Oz Wall, but I was too busy climbing to take photos. Always a tough line to draw between being in the action or photographing it. No regrets though, since the routes were great, particularly the two pitch. I’ll Get You My Pretty. 510a) Here is Lemmy pulling through the upper crux:. For mor...

Farmer’s Markets in Hong Kong? One of our top priorities is figuring out where to buy the cheapest and healthiest food in Hong Kong. I am very excited to have another person to cook for and looking forward to cutting back on eating out (dim sum is amazing, but reserved for when guests visit! My trips to the market have been interesting. Local farmers are all organic, not something I ever kept as a top priority, but just the way local farms have developed here. Perhaps as a reaction to questionabl...Food ...

Settling in and catching up. This was at a going away party last weekend. Climbers know how to throw a good party! It started with bbqing on the beach and then moved to bouldering. If it weren’t so hot we would have stayed for the beach camping. One of the little projects I have been working on is editing photos from the many trips Ian and I have taken in the past few years. Grad school caused quite the back log. Here are links to the different trips*:. Singapore – doesn’t link to anything😦.

Climbing, Hong Kong Styles. My first post (first ever blog post, hello internet! Is about climbing in Hong Kong, something I’ve spent a good chunk of my time here doing, but not nearly enough. There are many styles of climbing, but the three styles I’ve done in Hong Kong are bouldering, sport climbing, and traditional (trad) climbing. Bouldering can also be done indoors as well, and my favorite spot for that is Da Verm. Now it’s starting to get exciting, at least to me. In sport climbing you at...You can...
