The Square Peg: January 2010
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 5, 2010. I made a couple of these simple bird feeders for Christmas gifts. Just a doughnut really, with a hole at the top for the hanger and one in the bottom for draining. I left the inner ring area bare both so I could fire them flat (and probably stacked - I put this one around the center kiln post) and also so the birds have something to hold onto. Its about 10" across and maybe 4" wide. I did hang this one and fill it to see if the birds would actually use it and they sure did!

The Square Peg: More Skeletal Fun!
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2011/06/more-skeletal-fun.html
Monday, June 6, 2011. Crap photos, I know - my new camera arrives Tomorrow! I'm getting lots of positive feedback on the Dia de los Muertos themed plates, and have had a lot of requests for the motif on more functional ware. I was reluctant. First, I feel these pieces should tell a story, not just be plastered on whatever. Second, well, I'm not sure how I feel about such bulky ornamentation on functional ware. But sometimes ya just gotta jump in right? Http:/ www.facebook.com/media/set/?

The Square Peg: February 2010
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 4, 2010. Well, yesterday I did my first single-fire glaze firing. I think I'm a fan. After getting a better tank from the propane company, I was finally able to reach cone 9 1/2, which was great. I was getting really discouraged. To begin with, I just used my current compliment of glazes to see how they would work (well for the most part). I glazed bone dry ware and let everything dry for several days before firing. My wood ash was mostly pine, with some oak. Redart .33.3. I'm still in...

The Square Peg: Supporting Arts Education
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2011/08/supporting-arts-education.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I received the following email from a student at our local high school and, with her permission, I'm posting it in hopes there are some other artists out there who might be willing to pitch in. I think its a great senior project, and while its an absolute shame that the school has lost its arts funding, its wonderful that this kid understands how important they are. Please contact Kaylee directly if you would like to donate. Thank you and love. Kaylee Sedler : )". Where I Am now.

The Daily Breather: July 2010

The questions have been painstakingly researched. The answers, however, have not. 09 July, 2010. Rioters take the the streets of Oakland. Rioters of Oakland. Stop your destructive ways or we will shoot you in the face. I repeat. Stop your destructive ways, return to your homes or the Oakland City Police will shoot you in the face. Only kidding. But we will taser you in the face. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). American Standard: Some Thoughts At The Beginning of the DNC. They're Gonna Burn Down the Zoo!

The Daily Breather: May 2010
http://thedailybreather.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
The questions have been painstakingly researched. The answers, however, have not. 25 May, 2010. I Was Told There Would be Cake at This Job. I walked into the break room this morning to find a large white bakery box sitting on the center table. There was nothing in the break room but me at a large rectangular white bakery box. It was taped closed in 6 different places so I could not sneak a peek to see what may be in store for me later in the day. And when it finally is? The day is already looking up!

The Daily Breather: February 2013
http://thedailybreather.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
The questions have been painstakingly researched. The answers, however, have not. 13 February, 2013. When Potato Salad Goes Bad or Tater's Law. The Daily Breather is no mathematician but one would think that the basic laws of probability should be pretty equal across the board. This can easily be tested with the probability of flipping a coin or the probability of rolling snake eyes on a pair of dice. Both of these are just as boring as the math itself. Where’s the risk? Where’s the reward? Now it might ...

The Square Peg: July 2010
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 19, 2010. Its Been a While - Deadlines! Geeze - haven't updated in some time! The heat has really drained me of any artistic gumption at all, but I do have some looming deadlines, so I must get crackin'. I'm working on an address post mosaic for my brother and sister-in-law. Their birthdays are next week, so I gotta get this done! Its not as large as the last one i made, but I'm using much smaller pieces of tile, so its more labor intensive. Not sure whether to use a dark grout or a light one.

The Square Peg: Where I Am now
http://squarepegarts.blogspot.com/2011/08/where-i-am-now.html
Monday, August 1, 2011. Where I Am now. This post is for my mentor, David Beumee. I went through many images of pots past in the last couple days, and it was pretty revealing. I've decided to start about a year back and show you where I was then, where I am at this point, and what I have going into the kiln over the next 3 weeks or so. A year ago, this was my best piece. I was (and still am) enamored of tea bowls. This one was accepted into the Kansas City Clay Guild Tea Bowl National in 2010. I don't ex...
