Homemade Goodness

Friday, October 22, 2010. I'm calling this "Melanie's Tortellini" because "Italian Cheese and Spinach Stuffed Tortellini with Burnt Butter and Basil Tomato Sauce" is kind of a mouth full. This is one of those complete accident recipes - I just started throwing what I had in the fridge together and ended up with this - and it is to die for! I love it and hope you enjoy it too! This is a HUGE Recipe! When I make it there is enough to feed my family for dinner and have left over's for lunch the next day.

Homemade Goodness: Storing Brown Rice

http://www.homemadegoodness.blogspot.com/2008/11/storing-brown-rice.html

Monday, November 3, 2008. Brown rice has a higher oil/moisture content, increasing the risk of botulism, which is why you shouldn't dry pack it (using the oxygen absorber packets). This also makes it very susceptible to oxidation and soon goes rancid, only giving you about a 6 month shelf life. Freezing &/or refrigerating your brown rice will greatly extend it's shelf life. Do not buy more brown rice than you can use in 1 year. Once you open a container, keep it in the freezer. Using Your Food Storage.

Homemade Goodness: What Not To Dry Pack

http://www.homemadegoodness.blogspot.com/2008/09/what-not-to-dry-pack.html

Thursday, September 4, 2008. What Not To Dry Pack. I've been doing some research on what you can and cannot dry pack (with an oxygen absorber packet). For long term storage, products must have a low oil content and. Have 10% or less moisture content. Otherwise you risk rancidity and botulism poisoning. So, DO NOT. Dry pack the following items:. Whole Wheat Flour (. Wheat berries are okay*). Rolled oats are okay*). Labels: Building Your Food Storage. Using Your Food Storage. Where did you do your research?

Homemade Goodness: Fruit Salsa

http://www.homemadegoodness.blogspot.com/2008/09/fruit-salsa.html

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. I tried to get my 2 year old to eat fish, in the form of tacos. He loved it, but he loved the salsa I made for it even more! 1 large peach (or nectarine. Or mango, but I like peaches), chopped. 1/4 red bell pepper, finely chopped. 1/4 yellow bell pepper, finely chopped. 1 Tbsp lime juice. Finely chopped to taste. We like cilantro, and we like spicy so I used a 1 medium jalapeno. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Welcome to Homemade Goodness! Building Your Food Storage.

Homemade Goodness: Alfredo Recipe

http://www.homemadegoodness.blogspot.com/2009/09/alfredo-recipe.html

Tuesday, September 8, 2009. A huge thanks to everyone who answered Vickie's request for Alfredo Recipe's. This is the recipe that I've been using for years and for what it's worth Vickie said it was great and her husband loved it. 1-2 cloves garlic, finely minced. 2 cups heavy cream. 6-8 oz Parmesan cheese, finely shredded. Salt and White pepper to taste. You don't have to use cream. Most of the time I just use whole milk, but I think the cream is much better. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). This blo...

Homemade Goodness: Canning Butter

http://www.homemadegoodness.blogspot.com/2008/09/canning-butter.html

Tuesday, September 23, 2008. I'm hearing about canning butter from all directions these days. It seems to be the latest enrichment craze. I did a lot of canning last week and needed to call the Ball/Kerr hot line. I asked them about the butter as well, and they cautioned that you should not can any diary, flour, or other thickeners. I won't say much about it, other than to check your sources. The National Center for Home Food Preservation. Has more information if you'd like to read about it.

Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Hello all back in Town! So as Ariel just pointed out I don't make sense, we all knew that but it makes sense in my world and they understand me there. I'm back and home and we'll be seeing what else will be coming and what I'll be doing. Hopefully I will find my mind to know what to do, when, where, and how! I'll try to catch up later and talk with everyone if I remember. LOVES! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Hello all back in Town!

The Lewis Family: December 2009

http://jennyandty.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 13, 2009. The top two pics are of Carter in some Christmas jammies. They were just too cute to pass up! I was trying to get him to look at me when he was beside the moose but lately he's been fascinated by his feet :o) The bottom two are us during the snowstorm we had. It was so fun! I wish it would snow more often. Carter kept looking up at the sky while I was trying to get him in the car. It was the cutest thing! I just wonder what he was thinking. Look what I can do! I just made this.

The Lewis Family: April 2010

http://jennyandty.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 20, 2010. 11 months old.Really? I can't believe Carter is so close to ONE YEAR! It is crazy really! Like clockwork-right at eleven months he started pulling up on things. Yikes! He has been working on it for about two weeks. He would crawl over to the coffee table and get up on his knees but couldn't stand up. Well now that he figured out how, he is pulling up on EVERYTHING. It's a little scary. He was ON TOP of the dishwasher lid! How did he manage that? I just love it! I am grateful for:.

The Lewis Family: Bluebonnets are here!

http://jennyandty.blogspot.com/2010/04/bluebonnets-are-here.html

Wednesday, April 7, 2010. On Saturday went to my parents in Jewett for the day. My dad bar-b-qued and we sat around and laughed-mostly at Carter. He is so silly. He makes the cutest faces and noises. Ty and Chris(my sister's fiance) went fishing and caught a bunch! We brought home 3 bags of bass. Good thing Chris and Ashley don't eat fish. He was too precious and SO curious! It was really sunny and really hot but we made some good memories! Hope your Easter was GREAT! My dad was like "Come on girls!

The Lewis Family: Appliqued Onesies/Shirts

http://jennyandty.blogspot.com/2010/06/appliqued-onesiesshirts.html

Thursday, June 24, 2010. Here is what I've been up to lately. I made this tie shirt for Carter to wear for Father's day. He looked so cute in it! Up close pic of tie. I used heat n bond lite and then sewed a straight stitch. Around the edge. Simple as that! Up close of heart. These are too cute for girly girls! I love the cross onesies and shirts. All I need is some zebra print fabric! The tie onesies would be super cute on a little one.dont't ya think? June 24, 2010 at 10:32 PM. A Year of CrockPotting.

The Lewis Family: April 2009

http://jennyandty.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 9, 2009. I decided to try and make some cutesie burp clothes for Carter.they are fairly expensive in all the stores that I've seen. They were pretty cheap to make. These were from fabric I bought at wal mart. They don't really have a lot to choose from.but I love the cowboy print. It's flannel so it's a little softer. I am so NOT the sewing type-I almost threw my machine out the window and this was easy stuff. Guess I won't be sewing anything with a pattern anytime soon! I also got a book...

home made gorgeous

Monday, 4 June 2012. Hello all, I hope you are enjoying the long royal weekend! We went to Greenwich yesterday to do our bit in joining in the celebrations. Definitely one of my favourite London places with its cobbly streets and market. Such a typical British bank holiday weekend with the rain. but hey, that's what we are all about! Admittedly, we were quite lucky as found a nice spot in one of the pubs on the river to watch the boats go by - away from the pesky weather. Posted by home made gorgeous.
