Thrown to the four winds: June 2014
http://throwntothefourwinds.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Thrown to the four winds. Saturday, 28 June 2014. Laying in bed, I researched a few free walking tours as I heard they were a great way to get a feel for London. Perusing their tripadvisor reviews, I settled on Free London Walking Tours. And 2) find out what I needed to take to the bank appointment - nothing, as it turned out, and all was well. Westminster is where money is spent. No one truly knows - did you know it's not the clock tower that is Big Ben, but the actual bell inside? Friday, 27 June 2014.

Thrown to the four winds. Wednesday, 22 April 2015. The land of ice and fire - Part 2. Saturday 21 March 2015. I found my way to a little coffee shop - have I mentioned yet that Iceland makes a good coffee? And settled down with a bit of free wifi to broadcast my love of this country. (And shh…I know, you know, we all know that I don’t actually. It was 3C outside but inside the apartment I was donning my bathers. This afternoon we were going to be dipping our toes (and the rest of us! Typical Sasha, alwa...

Thrown to the four winds. Friday, 29 August 2014. Part 3 - All the B's: Belgium, Brussels, Brugge, beer.bwaffles. It is our final morning in Brugge and we are reluctant to return to Brussels and then hope again. Perhaps we can miss the plane and stay here forever? Naturally, she spoke perfect English and I felt like a fool! On our train was a huge, beautiful German shepherd (I will point out here – there seemed to be no problem in Belgium about taking dogs into restaurants and bars! It’s a statue o...

Thrown to the four winds: September 2014
http://throwntothefourwinds.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thrown to the four winds. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Belated updates: Kate and Shakespeare and wonton wrappers. And so I did. I met Charlotte at the Scala, an interesting rock/night club venue where Kate was to play. We grabbed some food and then joined the queue. This was Charlotte's first foray into Kate; my ninth (I think? Sounds melodramatic, I know. I returned to work on the Monday and by the Tuesday I had a panic attack in the local Waitrose, an expensive supermarket. What triggered it? Thursday n...

Thrown to the four winds: July 2014

Thrown to the four winds. Tuesday, 29 July 2014. The Mundane London Life. I haven't written a blog post in a while as I've been settling into life now as a Londoner and shaking off the tourist a little. The tourist is still there, lurking under the surface (wanting to go to Madame Tussaud and the museum, and other horribly touristy things), but day to day life must go on and I really had to stop eating as much potato as I was. Number 1 exciting and expensive thing: Belgium. Friday, 18 July 2014. I am now...

Thrown to the four winds: March 2015

Thrown to the four winds. Tuesday, 31 March 2015. BBGoesGreen for St Paddy’s Day - Part 1. Sunday 15 March 2015. 4am My alarm sounds and I leap out of bed, wide awake, prepared and eager for the day. Who am I kidding. In actuality, I rolled out of bed and bleary eyed fumbled down the stairs for breakfast and a shower. Good thing I had finished packing the night before because I was in no state to be conscious. It was going to be disgraceful. We set off into the darkness. 8220;What’s your name? We had 3 h...

Thrown to the four winds: Summer of Fun: Florence, Italy
http://throwntothefourwinds.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-of-fun-florence-italy.html
Thrown to the four winds. Tuesday, 28 July 2015. Summer of Fun: Florence, Italy. Read the beginning chapters of my Summer of Fun here. Flying out of Egypt. We drove through terrible Cairo traffic and got to the airport at 9am. I looked for my flight on the board but there was nothing for 10.30am. Wait…that looks like my flight. Why does it say 9.30am? It was now after 9am, and my flight was to leave at 9.30am. We ran through security. We ran through customs. Having not eaten for almost a week, my stamina...

Thrown to the four winds: Summer of Fun: Croatia & Montenegro

Thrown to the four winds. Thursday, 6 August 2015. Summer of Fun: Croatia and Montenegro. Read all of the. Here, as we enter the final instalment. I drank a large glass of awful wine, looked out the window at the spectacular Dalmatian islands, and soon we were descending. I tentatively called, and sure enough, she turned around. She had been my dorm mate in Florence. "What are you doing here? We drank and talked the night away before retiring, and I got myself ready for sailing the seas on the morrow.
