Home on the Hill. Carrie's gardening and craft blog. Chooks, chickens, poultry. Hazel coppice and bees. The garden with no name. Looking down the orchard. Last winter I stored some of the later varieties in the geranda and bike shed – they kept until well into the New Year. We would also like to obtain an apple press for making cider and juice. Cox’s orange pippin. This is complemented by varieties of plums, greengages and self sown damsons. There is a video tour of the orchard. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Home on the Hill. Carrie's gardening and craft blog. Chooks, chickens, poultry. Hazel coppice and bees. The garden with no name. Originally this garden was overshadowed by 2 huge conifers on the south side these were removed around the turn of the century, allowing the light in. We call this ‘the naked garden’ because it’s almost un-overlooked, and it would be possible to garden naked here. Also for the statue by the pond. The hedge along the south side of the garden is an evergreen wildlife hedge, and h...

Home on the Hill. Carrie's gardening and craft blog. Chooks, chickens, poultry. Hazel coppice and bees. The garden with no name. Originally we hoped to remove all the ash growing in the hedgerow by the drive, but this is a massive undertaking and rather expensive. I’m not sure what our plans are for this part of the garden, other than to say, it needs renovating. But for now, the ash, ivy, brambles and self-seeded Prunus. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. However, after years trying and failing to keep on top of the weeding (lots of bindweed), we finally decided that the shrubs were too big, too boring and too high maintenance for not much return. The late summer harvest - growing apples and pears - dig the outside
http://www.digtheoutside.com/2013/08/29/growing-apples-and-pears
August 29, 2013. The late summer harvest – growing apples and pears. I love growing apples and pears and I’m so lucky to have two mature trees in my allotment garden. They were both planted around 4 years before I took over the plot and I’ve been there around 10 years myself now. Baby pears last month, I love the way they grow up in the air! Pears seem to be a lot easier to store, they last longer and they get eaten by Adam very quickly so it’s just apples that I need to work on. Fruit blossom in spring.

Monday, 31 March 2008. Chick pea face mask. This is a recipe from my Indian hairdresser - apparently it can be used as both a face and hair pack. I've looked around the web and this seems to be fairly popular as a recipe. I saw one that also included turmeric. 160;medicine with uses including skin conditions. . Posted by Elizabeth Marsh.
