Homeschooling Nate

Monday, May 23, 2011. Here is Nate's update, his words in green. The hose is watering the plant. There are holes in the hose. This one has big leaves. It is a new plant. This plant still has it's first leaves. I planted more seeds when we lost the outside plants, hoping to have more survivors. We tried to turn them different colors. We used food coloring in water. I bought a bouquet of white carnations to make the corsage. For Shawn's prom. We decided to experiment with the rest. Actually, I think the ca...

Homeschooling Nate

http://www.homeschoolingnate.blogspot.com/2011/03/we-are-back-where-we-started-from-with.html

Monday, March 14, 2011. So, last week we filed the affidavit to create our own private school in our own home. This is California's way of allowing parents to teach their children what and how they want. This is how we were doing it in those first few weeks with Nate. And we enjoyed it so much more. Today: We rolled dice and multiplied them. And we made pictures with graph coordinates. April 7, 2011 at 6:09 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

http://www.homeschoolingnate.blogspot.com/2011/04/this-week-we-started-new-project.html

Friday, April 1, 2011. This week, we started on a new project. We are going to learning about plants and growing things. My plan is to intigrate this project into all of the curriculum areas: science (obviously), reading/writing and math. You may recall that Nate DOES NOT like to write. Today, i asked him to share by illustrating the photos in the blog. His words will be in. I will then elaborate, if needed. I put them in a bag. I put them in some soil. We used some of Papa's cafe. I found this cool plan...

Homeschooling Nate

http://www.homeschoolingnate.blogspot.com/2011/04/we-are-officially-on-spring-break-here.html

Friday, April 22, 2011. We are officially on spring break here, to coincide with Jacob's. It just makes things easier. But, that doesn't mean that learning stops for either of them. On Wednesday, we went to the zoo. I often think of Nate as my little monkey. He has always been a climber. His hands are smaller that the orangutan. But well shaped for swinging and climbing. Was born on Sunday, the 17 th. According to the zookeeper's. Note, there are only 300 addaxes. Nate gets a " giraffe's. We had a great ...

DuMontelle Daily: Weight Loss Wednesday - Week 3; Blizzard 2011

http://dumontelledaily.blogspot.com/2011/02/weight-loss-wednesday-week-4-blizzard.html

Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Weight Loss Wednesday - Week 3; Blizzard 2011. I did pretty good this week. I played Just Dance 2 on the Wii with the kids two days in a row. It was really, really fun! And a great workout. Then I made peanut butter fudge. And ate it. A lot. And then I made Swedish Meatballs and ate rice with it. A lot. So I dug in and gave it a big push from the front. You should have seen the look of, "You're crazy - that will never work! And then I died. Hopefully, all of that exercise wil...

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Random Tuesday Thoughts - 11/30/10. I don't know how I am going to get everything done this week. It's just too much and I am only one person and can only be in one place at a time. My cats can finally come within a few feet of each other without hissing and growling. We've had them both for over a year now. It's not even officially winter yet and I'm already tired of the cold weather. Labels: Random Tuesday Thoughts. Christmas Countdown Starts Tomorrow! Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Matthew At The Lake. There's no question, at least in my mind (and in the minds of the speech and occupational therapists that work with Matthew twice a week at our local elementary school) that Matthew has sensory issues. I've known it since he was tiny. It was nice to finally have other people see what I've seen for so long and not try to write it off as being 'quirky.'. There's sand in my sandals! That's okay, Matthew - that's why they're called SAND-als. "It's too loud! And I ...

Saturday, June 12, 2010. 6/27/09 - Atlantic Ocean, Here We Come! 6/27 - Virginia Beach (it's been a while but I want to finish last year's trip update so I can start thinking about this summer! After such a long, tiring drive the day before, we slept in late and then got ready to hit the beach! I had brought along a container full of little sand toys, shovels, buckets, and a new snorkel set for each of them. We gathered everything together and set out after breakfast. DuMontelle Daily: An Interesting Day Out

http://dumontelledaily.blogspot.com/2011/04/interesting-day-out.html

Thursday, April 28, 2011. An Interesting Day Out. First, I know it's been a while. I could lie and say I've been terribly busy and haven't had a chance to post. But the truth is that I gained some weight back, gave up the effort, and was too embarrassed to post. I am going to get back on track, though. Ugh. It was an amazing success! I just don't care. If I don't teach them how to do this stuff, how will they learn? That was a tangent and a slight rant, sorry. I don't mean to offend anyone at all, and ho...

Tuesday, July 20, 2010. 6/28/2009 - Decision Time. I woke up in the morning expecting to have significant pain from the sunburn. I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all. In fact, the skin on my legs was rather numb and had these tiny purple pin-prick sized dots all over, mixed in with the lobster-red of the burn. They felt swollen and tight. And then, we went home. We stopped in Cleveland overnight and we were home by the next night. And just like that, it was over. I would do it again!

http://dumontelledaily.blogspot.com/2011/01/weight-loss-wednesday-week-2.html

Thursday, January 27, 2011. Weight Loss Wednesday - Week 2. I know I am a day late. I thought about skipping it but then decided that would constitute hiding, and that's not who I am. Embarrassed, yes. Cowardly, no. I stood on the scale yesterday and was sad to see xx5.4. Up instead of down. :(. This morning it said xx3.7 so it's at least going back in the right direction. My weight seems to fluctuate a lot day by day. I'd like to see it keep coming down, of course. Goals for this week:. View my complete...

Thursday, February 14, 2013. If you've known me in real life, you would more than likely have heard me use the phrase (more than once). It's sort of my go to phrase when I really don't know how to respond, or the response in my head wouldn't be suitable for the audience outside of my head.
