When a referral is received a co-ordinator visits the family at home to find out what the difficulties are. The most suitable volunteer is then introduced to the family to offer support, friendship and practical help tailored to the needs of the family. The co-ordinator remains in contact throughout to review the progress being made. For how long is Home-Start usually involved? Disability or special needs. Coping with twins, triplets or several. Mum and I would manage to have a chat and I would join in Nathan's games or push the buggy so Mum could have time with him. About Home-Start Southport and Formby. Annie Ives and Karen Cooke look after a team of volunteers providing this much-needed support and befriending service to families with at least one child under the age of five. In addition to home visiting there is a Family Group where parents enjoy some me time taking part in sessions such as Parenting Programmes, Healthy Eating and Art and Craft activities while the children are playing in a creche. 53 volunteers supported 123 families from April 2014 to March 2015.
