thankful Archives - Homesteading On The Internet
http://homesteadingontheinternet.com/tag/thankful
Homesteading On The Internet. May 1, 2015. Being able to walk and do things for myself is a very big thing to be thankful for. Being thankful for my husband, Larry, is something that occurs to me many times through out my day. He does so many jobs around here and makes our home nice and happy. Many of my jobs, like I mentioned above, have become harder for me, so he has taken on some of my chores. We used to feed our horses every morning together. I miss that so much! It needs to be done.”.

Homesteading On The Internet. Tag Archives: Forest Homestead. Driving Through The Woods. February 3, 2017. Driving through the woods to my house, many people are under the impression that we are really “out there.” I only wish! I must admit, I was very impressed with the location the first day of driving through the woods to find it. It was a snow covered road going through the beautiful forest. It was so peaceful! Grinding Whole Coffee Beans. December 3, 2016. Krups Electric Coffee Bean Grinder. The Krups Coffee Bean Grinder has stainless steel blades and inside. Like I said above, it can be used to grind spices and grains as well as the coffee beans. The lid is designed so it can’t be started without the lid on it for safety reasons. Good thing too! Whole Coffee Beans in Krups Grinder. Yes, I know, I am quite spoiled! Fresh Ground Coffee Beans. I recommend the Krups Electric Coffee Bean Grinder. If you are concer...

Food & Recipes. House & Home. Live The Old Way. Choosing old time skills in a modern world. March 25, 2015. So, as you can see, yesterday we enjoyed our first meal of the year of the newly emerging greens. The greens are super tasty and high in Vitamin C, another useful benefit this time of year that is just in time for springtime colds. Mother Nature provides what we need, when we need it, if we just pay attention! Quickly add your Daylily greens, chopped into 1″ pieces, reduce the heat and stir. Your e...

Sunday, October 19, 2014. Do you ever become anxious about things or projects you want to complete? It seemed like you were just wondering if it'd EVER be finished. Now you are on to another project. It has been that way on our little homestead the whole time we have lived here. Then I look back through my pictures and say, "Wow, I remember I thought we'd never get this finished or that started." Some of those projects we were working on were:. 1 Adding a wind turbine to our alternative energy system.

Homesteading on the Homefront
Homesteading on the Homefront. A military wife's journey towards self-sufficiency. Monday, February 27, 2017. Pimento Grits ala Vivian Howard. March is the month where two of my cooking challenges collide. The March Food52 Cookbook Club book is "Deep Run Roots." I've been cooking through it for awhile now with my friends back in VA. When I saw the $1.50 container of ready-made pimento cheese, I grabbed it. I transferred them to a cast iron pan and dropped spoonfuls of pimento cheese on top, then spread i...

Homesteading On The Internet. I Bake My Bacon In The Oven. February 17, 2018. Yes, I bake my bacon in the oven! One of my favorite foods is bacon. That is one of the main reasons I embraced changing my diet to low carbs. Dr. Atkins mentions bacon often. I used to hate the top of my stove getting splatter with bacon grease, but soon I found another way of cooking it that can out much better than frying. Baking it! It made me reconsider using it. On to my research. I tried a silicone baking mat. For a long...

Point, Cash Back and Reward Sites. Sunday, March 25, 2018. I need your help- Rhubarb issues- any thoughts? Well not issues really- but Rhubarb is out of my wheel house and not super common around here. I'm not sure what to do with this. I planted a small pot of it last spring. I didn't harvest it last fall, but I'm not sure what to do about it. As you can see it's very bright and green and growing! What's going on top here? So should I transplant into a garden bed? Into a bigger container? Don't miss yes...
