Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. If you have one sale… is that still considered a success? This is another OpEd. I have just returned from my first major show. As you can tell from the title, I only had one sale. Does that mean it was a failure? Now, what’s the learning experience. I have learned that no matter how much time you give yourself, you will always be rushing to get the little things done. Being kind and curtious is always a good thing. The Hour Draws Nigh…. All m...

Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. Going Wild… Day 3. Well, today was both a good day and a bad day. Let me tell you about the good part of the day. I learned how to make a doublet and a triplet opal, although my class has not begun the cutting part. We just know the choosing and the epoxying part. I also finished several opals today, but hear is where the bad part comes into play. Posted by Dina on September 20th, 2006. Comments Off on Going Wild… Day 3. So, I’m off to ...

Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. Going Wild… Day 2. Well, I finished up the Fern Opal, and I began working on my second ever opal, which was a Pink Peruvian Opal. It turned out very pretty with some nice banding across the center. It sort of looks like a Picasso head. (In case you haven’t realized, these are freeform cabs. I might try my hand at a calibrated cab with some other pieces.). Posted by Dina on September 19th, 2006. Comments Off on Going Wild… Day 2.

Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. It’s been awhile… but still making jewelry. I know it has been awhile, but I am still making jewelry and selling it, as well. I am now on Twitter. My Twitter feed is to the right, as you can see. I encourage you to follow me since I often mention discount coupons and sales for my shops. You do have to have a seller account with Artfire, but the good news is that the Basic Accounts are free. Anyways, I hope to keep up this blog a bit more.

Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. Going Wild… Wild… and Wild… Days 5,6,& 7. So, I know what your saying to yourself. What the heck happened to Days 5,6, & 7? Well, the internet connection wasn’t so great those days, unfortunately. So, I will try to recall to the best of my ability what happened in those days. I thuroughly enjoyed my experience at Wildacres, and I hope to continue to attend classes there and other jewelry workshops. It is good to be home.

Getting Hooked On Jewelry…. Inside a Jewelry Designer's Head…. I’m in love… with Silver Clay. Silver Clay is this awesome, relatively new medium that comes in two types: PMC and Art Clay. Both are made by Japanese companies. It is basically silver particles mixed in with a biodegradeble substance to form a clay that can be molded and shaped into whatever you want. There is also a paste form that can be painted and used as solder or glue. It is a very cool medium. It was just so much fun that I want to ma...
