Movin’ Along – Wonders of Wandering
https://hopcswazi.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/taking-the-next-step
Tales from The Kingdom of Swaziland. April 22, 2016. May 4, 2016. At the beginning of my service I remember emphasizing that I wanted to maintain a healthy dose of altruism, hope in humanity and keep a positive outlook on life rather than be so bogged down by the ways of the world that I fall into apathy and pessimism. Sibling outing to Mantenga Falls for my little bro’s birthday. Cape Town with the best of them. My make and I dancing at church. My two families meeting! Melodies of the Soul. Disclaimer: ...

Tales from The Kingdom of Swaziland. Oh How the Years Fly. July 3, 2016. July 3, 2016. In a rare moment of indulgence, these are some of the things I have thought about the most these last few months as summer began back home. Sitting next to the the window overlooking the road in Moxie Java with a book and a good cup of coffee as other Cobbers inevitably stop for a chat as they filter through. Trivia nights at Rhombus Guys and Wurst, even if our teams never did that good. My favourite country music play...

Tales from The Kingdom of Swaziland. January 5, 2016. January 5, 2016. Had stayed back to watch the children and seemed surprised when I asked her if she still wanted to attend the soccer games at Mvuma that day. There was no way I was going to say no to an offer like that. After a quick nap and some food my two. Back to the garden we’re starting at our homestead I’ll be the first to admit that I do not have a green thumb, and despite having dug two permagardens during training I still don’t feel at all ...

Despite my generally independent spirit, now that I am reunited with the gang, I feel a little more whole. Walking With Jessica: November 2014

Thursday, November 27, 2014. Gratitude and 8 Buckets of Blessings. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever." -. Increasingly so, I am aware of my material wealth. I recall the moment in Cambodia, walking through a slum of shacks, garbage, and malnourished villagers, when I realized that no matter how poor I was in America - if I was scraping by on a teacher's salary, or living on welfare, or somehow lost everything -. Label your buckets with each of the following:. Relationships...

Walking With Jessica: August 2014

Friday, August 22, 2014. Back to the Grind, Ready or Not. The last half a year, I have been. But now that it literally looms right before me, now that I am about to dive into the thick of it, I am afraid I may drown. Oh God. Can I handle this? I really don't know. I might break down. I probably will; it has happened before. WHAT have I gotten myself into? Six classes and two jobs? Even though I am just fine. Is not living, though. Just fine. I am not fine at ALL! Wednesday, September 17, 2014. No," she says, "but that's great! Her cheeky grin expands across her whole face as she finishes off a Little Debbie Nutty Bar. Like any dessert-loving fifth grader, this is the first selection from her tin lunch box, also packed with a sandwich, a nacho Lunchable, and a note saying, "I love you! I'm not one to beat around the bush, so I jump right in, asking her about herself and her family. Majesty does not hold back. She is the youngest of eight. I think to myself. I love...

Walking With Jessica: My Favorite Things
http://walkingwithjessica.blogspot.com/p/my-favorites.html
My rock and redeemer, eternally faithful, the Risen King. Though I grew up a Christian, I have definitely wrestled with doubt. And faith questions. Still, I have found that all of Christianity hangs on the saving miracle of the resurrection. Christ proves true. And He has transformed my life to be one in which I love and serve others because of His rich love for me. Following Jesus doesn't make life easy, but it makes it fruitful and good. And a brother - and we're all spaced two years apart. Georgia.

http://walkingwithjessica.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 24, 2015. 98 Days of Rolling. Last night I enjoyed Roanoke’s open mic night, where students - many of impressive talent, some courageously oblivious to their lack of talent - performed songs, poems, and improv skits. Kudos to my friend and favorite folk musician Daniel Osborne. A lot of the people prefaced their performance with something like:. Well I haven’t picked up my guitar since senior year of high school. We’ll see how this goes. I never read my poetry to anyone. So many good th...
