On Thursday, November 16, we all went to a Candlelighters meeting downtown. Candlelighters. Hope had died early in the night. Hope was buried in an old cemetary in the Texas Hill Country. On some family land, where she loved to go to see the deer and cows and rabbits. The cemetary has many graves of young children from back in a time when losing children was not so unusual (although I'm sure no easier). next.

Was born on October 7. 1997 in Fort Worth, Texas. She is the second daughter of Duke and Sharolyn Browning. Her older sister, Navy, was almost three when she was born. She was a wonderful baby that loved to be held and rocked. By age two, Hope was having a great life. She was an active and loving child with a beautiful smile that forced you to smile back. Despite all the treatment, Hope adjusted. She continued to learn and mature. She played and sang and laughed. She loved to color, and she was provided with an endless supply of crayons and coloring books. She made up for not being able to run around by being creative. Hope was also very easy to comfort - she loved to be rocked and we loved rocking her. She also loved to swing at our house, at our neighborhood park, and at Grandma and Grampa's. I completed the Team-in-Training 100-mile (century) bike ride in Lake Tahoe on June 3rd. This is touted as "America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride" and I have no doubts about that - it was truly beautiful. I raised over $7500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (thanks to all who contributed! And the 1200 TNT riders that went to the event raised $4.5 million! Losing a child is every bit as bad as you can imagine it would be. For the first few weeks I felt like there was something physically missing from my body (I pictured myself as a " chiminea. We felt devastated when Hope was diagnosed with leukemia, but this was 100 times worse. Life will never be the same. I doubt I will ever say "things will work out" again. There are no guarantees in life. We have been overwhelmed by all the cards, letters, and memorials.
