Wednesday, September 3, 2008. I spent a weekend in August road-tripping to St. Louis, which is no small feat. Nine hours to Louisville where I got to see Maria's apartment and Americana. The next day was 5 more hours to St. Louis where we met Abby and Robb! The newlyweds showed us all over the city including a sculpture garden, the arch, and Grant's farm. We also sampled some amazing ribs and watched lots of Olympics. I was so sad to see the weekend end and to start the long drive home:). JFK 50 mile 2011.

However, we were slightly distracted by the many porta potties littering the mall and monuments. After our museum time we found a restaurant on Capitol Hill and enjoyed some El Salvadorian food. Wednesday, August 6, 2008. The mountain ranges of Alaska. We took a cruise in Prince William Sound to see a glacier. Our boat had to slow down in order to safely navigate the sea that was full of ice chunks. Everyone was excited to get a shot of the glacier. Chunks of the glacier were calving, which is when the ice breaks off and falls into the water. Since the speeds of light and sound are different, the ice could be viewed falling into the water before the sound of the splash was heard. JFK 50 mile 2011.
