Vivienne's CDH Story

Monday, July 20, 2015. Vivienne is four months old already (! Viv's au pair Kayla arrived last week from South Africa. So far things are going very well, and we are excited to settle into our routine with a set caregiver. We've had a parade of family members come through in the last month to help care for Viv prior to her arrival. It was great fun for us and for Viv, but we're happy Kayla is here so we can all get settled. Last but certainly not least.pictures! And she knows it. Fourth of July cuteness.

Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Wrapping Up the Second Trimester. Dave and I had a lovely Christmas vacation capped off with another routine appointment at CHOP. Vivienne continues to hold steady. Her growth is excellent (2 lbs. 5 ozs) and no new concerns have surfaced. Viv didn't appreciate the sonogram very much and spent the majority of the session kicking the crap out of the transponder. My stomach looked like it was experiencing a sizable earthquake. It was quite entertaining. Monday, December 1, 2014.

Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Day 57: Withdrawal Woes. The team is currently looking at Friday for discharge but noted that Viv will have to be in a good place before they will feel comfortable letting her go. I'm not very hopeful based on her current state. Maybe she'll turn the corner tomorrow, and we can get out of here. If not then we will be extending our stay until she improves. May 14, 2015 at 7:48 AM. Poor little girl - shes taking on something adults struggle with. Thinking of you guys.

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. We got home around the same time that we normally get back from work and then headed out to have dinner with a couple we met at birth class. They also had a high NT scan early on in the pregnancy but all of their subsequent tests came back normal. Still, it was nice talking to another couple who have experienced some of the same uncertainties and tensions that we've had to deal with. Sunday, February 1, 2015. Getting Ready for Viv. Her dad had to go on a work trip Tuesday-Wednesday, so I went over to help her mom make it through the last few hours before he got home. Completely unrelated to her CDH, Vivienne is also colicky. The story of my life. Friday, April 17, 2015. Our yard is about 4 feet above our neighbor's yard on one side, and held up by a retaining wall. The wall was sloping and we could see where it had fallen about 3 inches since we moved here. We bit the bullet and got a new wall put in - and used the opportunity to get rid of the rusty, tangled chain link and get new wooden fences and gates all around! It's so much nicer looking, I'm really excited about it! Before: Front yard and gate on side.
