Hopper News, Notes and Natterings. Sunday, July 11, 2010. After three years here in the Pacific Northwest, we finally decided to pay homage to Mt. Baker which we see on the horizon almost everyday. Hopper News, Notes and Natterings. Thursday, April 30, 2009. I mentioned in a previous post that gray whales sometimes visit the cove. They come in quite close to shore, turn on their side and smack the water with a flipper. Our neighbors report that they can actually hear the whales venting through their air holes. Gray whales can grow over 50 feet long and live for 50-60 years. This one was 41 feet long and may have died from a collision with a boat. Here is a closer view from our front yard.

Tuesday, November 13, 2012. We went to the pumpkin patch this year in honor of Jared's first Halloween. Actually, it was more of a mini carnival than an actual patch. There were bouncy houses, and bouncy slides, a petting zoo and pony rides. And, of course, plenty of pumpkins. Grandma and Grandpa Clare came with us and took turns lugging that BIG little boy around. Grandpa Clare with Jared. Just outside the petting zoo - goats feel funny!
