Monday, October 12, 2009. We just finished a fun unit on character design. Our final project was making puppets using clothes-pins. Mrs Williams' Art Class. Friday, December 11, 2009. Thank you Mrs. Clark! Thank you Mrs. Clark! It has been fun having you in our classroom. We've learned to not only be artists, but to think like artists. We made talking cards, nature art, garbage art and tesselations. Students explored works done by Dan Steinhilber and other artists who use garbage as a medium. They worked in teams and were given a bag of garbage to create their own works of art. I am sad that we can't put all of them up here for you to see, but we hope that this helps you to get a feel for how much fun we had and how much creativity these young children have. The kids learned to create and use wonderful textures as they each painted and drew monsters. This is Mr. Moran who came and shared some of his art with us. He also shared his daughter's painting. Mr. Harmon is a BYU Illustration and art education student. He is excited to work with Mrs. Williams and to continue to help the students learn about and enjoy art. Mrs Williams' Art Class. Monday, November 23, 2009. Sixth grade built canopic jars based on an animal of their choice. Fifth grade designed and created their own masks. Fourth grade learned about the purpose of Japanese tiles. Then they created their own with a symbol that represents themselves. Third grade made square pots complete with a lid. Thursday, November 5, 2009. Students learned to create shapes and forms with paper. They created their own sculptures individually or as a table.
