Removing financial limits on campaign contributions. If whining to our friends that we have no voice is the extent of our exercise of free speech then our complaint is without merit. How many letters might someone be able to pen in the 45 minutes spent on hold to talk to the local talk radio host? This proposed legislation, though, makes no effort ...

Friday, November 18, 2011. Occupying Ulysses - Chapter 2: Nestor (Stephen teaches and is taught). As I have noted in the previous post, I'm reading Ulysses. Together with some pals on Twitter (I'm @tomwaitsripoff over there). The reading speed varies greatly between the different participants, but we all have the same basic goal: to get to Molly's final "yes". This is the second stage for me. I hope you're all well on your way. Ride on! I've started reading The Odyssey. For me, it still is fun to read it...

Monday, June 24, 2013. It is quite a simple task: Read the Norton Shakespeare, Second Edition. The only problem about it is its sheer length (over 3000 pages). So this might take a long time, especially since I have lots of other things to do (and I still want to read other books of course). So I think approximately one scene a day will be an appropriate reading speed. I'll see where that'll take me. I will read some plays for the second time (e.g. Hamlet. I want to find out for myself now. Books: Books ...

Thursday, August 18, 2011. The Harry Potter Project #1. So, I’ve started the Harry Potter project. It just means that I will read the seven novels, and maybe watch the films afterwards, all for the first time. Why now? You might ask. Well, no special reason, I’ve always wanted to read them, just to find out whether they’re any good. I mean, how’s the saying? One billion Harry Potter fans can’t be wrong. I’ve read five chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
