My family and other animals – Narrowboat Albion

A view from bridge 38. July 13, 2011. My family and other animals. Tuesday’s destination was Abingdon, which we made in much faster time than expected and squeezed on to the end of the moorings near the sports field, deploying the secateurs to aid getting off the back of the boat. Of course, we then found lots of space further up, but we’re quite fond of trees so stayed put. Never too young to take an interest in the menu. This entry was posted in The Great Trip. Pimms on the deck – not. Enter your email...

A view from bridge 38. July 21, 2011. View from Somerton Deep Lock - 12 feet deep - one of the deepest narrow locks on the network. On Sunday night we stopped at Enslow opposite the “Rock of Gibraltar”. This is a lovely old boatmen’s pub with good real ale – but with very bad 1970’s pop music piped both in the bars and outside! Even more surreal is the survival of Tooley’s in the middle of it all. Above Banbury the canal has become more interesting. Another remote mooring on Wednesday night, then a s...

Homeward Bound – Narrowboat Albion
https://nbalbion.wordpress.com/2011/07/27/homeward-bound
A view from bridge 38. July 27, 2011. The last lift bridge this holiday . Lisa arrived just in time to help with the last lock of the day as the black clouds were gathering, and as Jenny and co arrived the heavens opened. So we squeezed around the last available table in the Folly, gatecrashing a wedding party, and had a lovely evening anyway. Napton on the Hill - with buffalo. Loading coal for the National. So how about them taking a collection and adding it the IWA coffers? Where did that month go?

Where did that month go? – Narrowboat Albion
https://nbalbion.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/where-did-that-month-go
A view from bridge 38. August 29, 2011. Where did that month go? Apologies to our follower that a month has elapsed since the last post. Actually, on this cold wet August bank holiday (fire lit, dog walkers out in hats and gloves) it’s hard to imagine it’s. A month since we were walking around Shugborough in hot sunshine. We're not too sure about this . Happy birthday, Alma. A postcard from Burnham on Sea. Then it was back to Norbury and normality – well, as near to it as we get! Time to run away →.
