Fiction with Equestrians in Mind. 48 Hours in The Bluegrass: Part 1. April 19, 2016. Were we in Kentucky for 48 hours? We stayed three nights, so that isn’t quite right. But we only had two full days to take in the Bluegrass region — and believe me, it wasn’t enough. We went to Lexington for the Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award reception. Keeneland’s Walking Ring from the Phoenix Room. My novel Turning For Home. Was a finalist for the award. Where I walked on the cross-country course and found Ralph Hill’s.

Linda Benson: Chick-a-Holic, or The Gift Horse
http://lindabenson.blogspot.com/2015/06/chick-holic-or-gift-horse.html
Fiction for Animal Lovers. Monday, June 15, 2015. Chick-a-Holic, or The Gift Horse. Recently we got rid of our chickens. Why? Because the silly, spoiled birds kept hanging out in the garage. And on the back patio. I did warn them. I said, "Shorty, take your hens and go roam around the acreage. Stop hanging out by the back door! Or, I'll, I'll . . . find you another home! This was the worst threat I could come up with, because there is no actual stew-pot for chickens on this farm. But what had I done?

http://lindabenson.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Fiction for Animal Lovers. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Recently I took my two bad boys to a shot clinic to get their vaccinations. My two former shelter kitties, Bugs and Fred. Although I've given lots of shots to animals myself, these two characters are of the scratchy, clawing variety when it comes to holding still for shots. (I mean,. Of the time they are very sweet.). But since they needed rabies this time, I grabbed their records and headed down with them in a large pet carrier. So tell me, how do y...

Linda Benson: The Doorbell Bird
http://lindabenson.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-doorbell-bird.html
Fiction for Animal Lovers. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Often I am awakened by birdsong, which is a lovely thing. But in the spring, with all birds crazily vying for territory and trying to attract a mate, it can sometimes be, well, a little much. Especially when one of them makes a quite distinct sound, and you don't know which bird is making it. For lack of a better description, it sounded (to me) like a high-pitched doorbell. Then it would vary the song:. Ding, ding. Ding Ding Ding. And "Oh, dear me.".
