HISTORY OF HORSESHOE LAKE. Hodges named his lake Horse Shoe Lake, and more recently it appears on maps as Horseshoe Lake. We are not sure just when this change took place. Horseshoe Lake in early days. But can you imagine a Ferris wheel on that level space where the playhouse once stood and perhaps a Roller Coaster up on the field to the east of the Lake? If it didn't happen that way you can thank the Goades and the Horseshoe Lake Amusement Corporation for building the first cottages. Ruth M. Mcevoy.

Come and enjoy all the activities of Horseshoe Lake! While no gas powered motor boats are allowed on this lake there are still many different styles of boating to participate in: Canoes, Row Boats, Kayaks, Sailboats, Paddleboats, Windsurfers, Paddleboards and party cruisers. Horseshoe Lake is a natural spring fed body of water which makes for crystal clear swimming water at the perfect temperature to cool off on a hot summer day. For lifeguard supervision see the beach section above.
