Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. Summer is late to Auckland; indeed I have begun to wonder if it will arrive at all. It’s not cold particularly, but it is wet and very windy. The wind is the worst thing, whipping the fragile, manuka branches, laden with tiny white blossom. On FaceBook, I joke with a friend in Poland that I’m more likely than him to have a white Xmas this year. Rain from Office Window. When I finally make it back to Greenhithe, I’ve noticed that the tide is in. Liv...

Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. December 2014: An Exhibit. On December 12th, 2014, twelve photographers in different parts of the world went out and documented their day. The caveat: they could only use only their camera phone to take and process their photographs. What follows are their accounts that capture each photographer’s day using twelve images and their own words. My grateful thanks to the following photographers for participating in this experiment:. I have set up each phot...

Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. I have been doing a monthly Take 12! Now for almost two years. Some months are great, some not so much. But each month, I am assured that during the course of that twelfth day, I will undoubtedly see at least one thing that I might not have noticed before as well as learning something I did not know before. And it is still one of the best exercises I know for me to just getting out and looking. Five Things I Learned Today. For today: Take 12! What a wo...

Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. I was visiting my parents in Longmont, Colorado when December 12th rolled around. All the photos I took were within three blocks of their apartment. 5 things I learned during this project:. 1 There is no such thing as taking a quick shot with a smartphone when you are wearing gloves. 2 Early morning light during the Colorado winter is gorgeous. 3 Special lenses for my iPhone are great fun, but the big screen on my new Samsung Galaxy Note is GREAT!

Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. Today started like any other, coffee and photoshop. I was working on my surreal image of Shannon Kalahan. I can’t do my thing without my wacom tablet. I can’t believe I spent so many years editing without one. I started to come down with a headache that was wrapping around the side of my head. My expression pretty much tells how it felt. 5 thoughts on “ David Pasilas. December 31, 2014 at 3:51 PM. I am so glad to meet you even on your bad day! Hi David...

Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. Today, because of the Take 12 challenge I woke up alert to the moments of the day. I paid attention to the details, textures, smells, colors, nuances. I was looking into my world with inquisitiveness and curiosity. The future was open, I had no plan about what to photograph, so I tried to become open to the potential to create at any time. 5 facts of my day:. 2) Someone said to me while I was taking picture of a tree: “you are drying our trees! Photos. Words. Discovery. December 2014: An Exhibit. New York is a supermodel of cities. It doesn’t have any bad angles. This is helped by the gritty iconic images of the city that we all know from films and TV even when New York looks bad it looks good. Would this fly as an interesting assignment?
