Analytical Afterthoughts: March 2009

In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Wednesday, March 11, 2009. The Speeding Bullets: Kobalt Tools 500. I enjoyed watching this race. There was a really exciting side by side battle between Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon for much of the event. There was strategy at the end about whether to pit or not which set us up for a classic Atlanta style finish. Hopefully, this race and the other three are a positive sign for the rest of the season. Two in a row for the Busch brothers. Lately, we ju...

Analytical Afterthoughts: August 2009

In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Monday, August 24, 2009. The Speeding Bullets: Sharpie 500. Marcos Ambrose is edging closer and closer to that first ever Cup victory. He is proving to be much more than just a road racer and a serious threat to win races week in and week out. I know that making the Chase is an unreachable goal for 2009, but he very well could have a shot at contending for the title down the road. Links to this post. Monday, August 17, 2009. In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. The Speeding Bullets: 2010 Auto Club 500. This weekend has marked the one-year anniversary of The Speeding Bullets. It was all of you who encouraged me to transform a simple idea when I was pressed for time into my weekly racing blog. How long is it going to take NASCAR to realize that February is not a good time to go to California? Links to this post. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. The Speeding Bullets: 2010 Daytona 500.

In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. The Speeding Bullets: Jeff Byrd 500 '11. That's all from Bristol. Next week, NASCAR goes back out west for their lone Cup race at Fontana. It will be interesting to see if attendance is any better now that the track only has one event. Jimmie Johnson came close to victory this week at Bristol, and I think that out in California is where he will get the cigar. Links to this post. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Links to this post.

In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Monday, April 12, 2010. The Speeding Bullets: 2010 Subway Fresh Fit 600. This week's edition of The Speeding Bullets started out in the Valley of the Sun and ended in the Valley of the Moon. Hope you enjoy the read. Newman or any other driver probably would have done the same thing. These finishes are just so unpredictable, and that keeps drivers and crew chiefs guessing each week on the right race-winning formula. Links to this post. This rain del...

Analytical Afterthoughts: September 2009
http://gonger93.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
In-depth analysis of the wide world of sports plus more. Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The Speeding Bullets: AAA 400. Congratulations to Jimmie Johnson for getting his fourth win of the season. He also managed to sweep both of the year's Dover races for the second time in his career. As expected, he dominated from the time the green flag dropped until the checkered flag waved. The only other driver who could have possibly been a threat for the victory was Kurt Busch. Interesting, interesting, interesting.

A NASCAR fan's inside look at the #22 Shell Pennzoil Racing team. Friday, September 18, 2009. My Favorite "Twits" and a Beer Challenge. Yes, I am aware no less than three weeks ago I said I would be blogging more often - well, we can all see how successful I have been at that! I have another That's Debatable. Blog in the works but I got a few interesting tidbits from Miller Lite Racing that I thought I would pass along. Let's start with my favorite Twits. The Battle of the Beer Cars might actually happen...

A NASCAR fan's inside look at the #22 Shell Pennzoil Racing team. Sunday, February 21, 2010. Fontana Garage Report - Race Day. Early start for today but you couldn't really say it was "bright".after a downpour last night and threatening skies this morning, the only clear thing was that weather was going to be a factor. The first couple of people I ran into in the garage were our Daytona 500 champ talking with Jeff Burton who was on his way to do "story time" for kids at the track. After hanging with Cind...

The Hot Pass: July 2008

A NASCAR fan's inside look at the #22 Shell Pennzoil Racing team. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Four infamous Goodyear Eagle racing tires can make you or break you on race day. We may think we know tires, but there is a lot “More-2-It” than we realize. And how many of us have actually tried to change all four of our tires in under 15 seconds with six other friends? Not many I reckon! Let me tell you what I have learned from the Miller Lite racing team about their tires. The pit crew then uses a strip of hot ...
