We have taken a great leap of faith and nerve to embark on building our first home. This is our story. We had a look at the house again today and noticed that the Soffit had been put on around the Eaves. Also the gable decorations had been put on. Saturday, September 27, 2008. We used treated pine for the frame and the deck boards are Merbau hardwood 90x19mm. Here is a break down of how it progressed. We had already dug the holes for the posts which would hold the frame of the deck. We had to remove some excess soil so that the frame would be sitting off the ground. The roadbase had been put down a few weeks ago when we did the retaining wall. We then had to screed a layer of river sand for the pavers to be laid on. We have taken a great leap of faith and nerve to embark on building our first home. This is our story. The work on the storm water drainage started on Monday. The pipework for the drainage was installed and we also arranged for the pipework from the driveway and water tank to be installed at the same time. It was far easier to do this now, at slab stage, rather than wait until the house was built. The next day we started putting various things into the pit. First of all a layer of course river sand.
