The Gore-Gore Girl: July 2015
http://www.goregoregirl.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 27, 2015. So popular in fact, I wrote a sequel. I also wrote up my list of food in porn. We laugh, we feel a little shocked. Indeed, an entire blog is devoted to indifferent cats in amateur porn. NB I have excluded cat appearances- I'm saving them for an all-cat extravaganza. Ultra Flesh (Dir. Svetlana, 1980). There's even a scene in Fantasy World. Regardless, in this XXX sci-fi classic, the snake is used by two little people as a weapon designed to terrify a woman (Lisa DeLeeuw) into submit...

The Gore-Gore Girl: Renaissance Woman: An Interview With Dana Vespoli
http://www.goregoregirl.com/2014/07/renaissance-woman-interview-with-dana.html
Monday, July 7, 2014. Renaissance Woman: An Interview With Dana Vespoli. Courtesy of Dana Vespoli. Reading Jack Halberstam's Gaga Feminism: Sex, Gender, and the End of Normal. I was introduced to her directorial efforts via She's Come Undone. Casually browsing threads online, I found someone talking about the film, specifically a flashback scene in what I had formerly assumed to be generic gonzo content produced by Evil Angel. Flashbacks? I was intrigued and wanted to sit down with Dana and pick her brai...

The Gore-Gore Girl: Book Review: Graphic Thrills: American XXX Movie Posters 1970 to 1985 (Robin Bougie)
http://www.goregoregirl.com/2014/08/book-review-graphic-thrills-american.html
Sunday, August 10, 2014. Book Review: Graphic Thrills: American XXX Movie Posters 1970 to 1985 (Robin Bougie). When I received Robin Bougie's recent FAB Press. Publication, Graphic Thrills: American XXX Movie Posters 1970 to 1985. I opened the beautifully-illustrated cover expecting a page or two of background information painted in broad strokes for those readers unfamiliar with the impact of Deep Throat. And imagined it would be similar, though with Bougie's trademark rhetorical stylings. It was a blas...

The Gore-Gore Girl: October 2013
http://www.goregoregirl.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Marquis de Porn: An Interview with Danny Wylde. I recently had the privilege of speaking with porn star, novelist, musician, blogger, activist, scholar (I could go on), Danny Wylde. Danny is one of my "go-to" performers in modern porn. There's something about his intelligence and obvious civic engagement that infuse his performances with a tangible human presence that I don't find in many other male performers. Yes, I find civic engagement sexy. Don't you? Was your childhood the...

The Gore-Gore Girl: January 2014
http://www.goregoregirl.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The Politics of Porn Performance: Remembering Tim Stuttgen via an Interview with Aiden Starr and Adrianna Nicole. Back in February of 2012, I received an email from Berlin-based porn scholar, Tim. I was unfamiliar with his work at the time, and enjoyed a few pleasant and deeply interesting email exchanges (primarily about Mason/Sam No, but also about Berlin, the post-porn scene, and.well, porn! 8211; check out the Facebook page. And follow the Twitter stream @XCircle edu. Throug...

Nilbog Milk: April 2015
http://nilbogmilk.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Hey, y'all, I write about horror and exploitation movies and stuff. Friday, April 17, 2015. Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977). Said cannibal girl also bites off a nurse's boob. Later, Emanuelle goes completely out of character and says, "She'll have lost a breast. However, it seems she asked for it. She's well-known for her homosexual inclinations." LOL WUT? Did she have a flashback to her judgmental nun days? That aside, the last portion of Last Cannibals. So, yeah, Black Emanuelle. Is steeped in ...

Nilbog Milk: Return to Oz (1985)
http://nilbogmilk.blogspot.com/2015/03/return-to-oz-1985.html
Hey, y'all, I write about horror and exploitation movies and stuff. Saturday, March 7, 2015. Return to Oz (1985). Judging by the financial stats on IMDB (this didn't even make half of its $25 million budget back), it seems that audiences in 1985 were just not buying an Oz. Movie that mostly ditches the Scarecrow and Toto, but does include a talking chicken, a flying couch, and electroshock therapy. It's 1985's loss. And Disney's! A sort of amalgamation of two L. Frank Baum Oz. Doesn't flinch from shadows...

Nilbog Milk: Fascination (1979)
http://nilbogmilk.blogspot.com/2014/10/fascination-1979.html
Hey, y'all, I write about horror and exploitation movies and stuff. Monday, October 20, 2014. Euro horror directors of the 70s have a reputation for elevating style over substance. The most famous offender is Argento, of course, but even his love of visuals at the expense of plot can't match Jean Rollin. Over the course of a 52(! Whoa, this is a whole lotta plot for a Jean Rollin movie! Don't worry, the tits flop out soon enough. The thieving thief escapes to a castle surrounded by a moat. There he m...

Nilbog Milk: The Canal (2014)
http://nilbogmilk.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-canal-2014.html
Hey, y'all, I write about horror and exploitation movies and stuff. Friday, February 20, 2015. Isn't a classic and resides in one of my least-loved horror subgenres, but viewers who like thrillers and slow-burn storytelling should get a kick out of it. And you'll be near the truth. I loved how much consideration was taken in setting up the visuals. The film looks fantastic—scenes are framed and shot with exacting care, and portions of The Canal. Things aunts would like. Nilbog Milk: June 2015
http://nilbogmilk.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Hey, y'all, I write about horror and exploitation movies and stuff. Friday, June 12, 2015. Lee was the first person to wrest Dracula from Bela Lugosi's grasp. You can talk about the Lonster and the other dudes who wore the cape, but nobody until Lee was able to shift the character out of Bela's long shadow. So it should be interesting to see how Lee's performance here compares to another horror titan, Boris Karloff in the 1932 version of The Mummy. Will we see another claim staked here? I would argue tha...
