The Featherstone Kite-flying Machine has swooped into Brighton Museum. In addition the Exploratory Lunacycle has brought its rock samples to Hove Museum, the Little Dragon Carpet Sweeper is cleaning in the Booth Museum, and the "Fairway Birdie" is playing golf at Ditchling Museum. Can't wait to see them all in operation.

Although most public telephones have now been made redundant by the mobile phone network, the familiar red boxes are still hanging on in conservation areas and their removal would leave the street scene much the poorer. Each summer the Dowson family travelled down to Mock Bridge House in West Sussex and it was here in 1900 that Margaret Fairless Dowson began to write “The Roadmender”. Notwithstanding her deteriorating condition she survived another winter in Chelsea and was able to return the following summer where she completed her book just before her death. Margaret had expressed a desire to be buried in Shermanbury churchyard but for some reason this proved impractical and Ashurst, a few miles away over the fields, was chosen. Although Margaret may not have known St.James church at Ashurst it seems unlikely this choice would have disappointed.
