"I started fishing the Trent as a kid and got fed up of the small fish so I went to try and catch the bigger barbel and chub. I mainly fished lead and feeder and used pellet, bread, meat, you name it! Likes it up in the water. Thinking man's angler. Former Trent ace; getting a regular hammering off his son, Jack.

The Black Horse Inn is a traditional country pub serving beer brewed on site and offers excellent food. Situated just 5 minutes from the fishery. Tuesday to Saturday 11.45 to 2.30 pm and 5.30p.m to 11.30 pm. Sunday 12.00 to 5 pm and 8.00pm to 11.30p.m. Monday closed all day except Bank Holiday Lunch. Lunch Tuesday to Saturday 11.45 to 1.45. The Midland Angling Society have 140 pegs on the River Trent available for pleasure and match fishing. Situated at Caythorpe and Hoveringham in Nottinghamshire. Parking is available adjacent to twenty roadside pegs. Access to the water is via the A612 Nottingham to Southwell road. Views of our Pegs. No night fishing, camping or fires allowed. The Midland was formed in 1908 and acquired a stretch of the old Wollaton Canal, the society then acquired water on the River Trent in 1950 to 1955 the stretches at Caythorpe and Hoveringham. In the late eighties the Elm Tree pub which was owned by the Shipstones brewery closed the pub was adjacent to the river at Hoveringham they also owned the river frontage. Notts Federation books will be issued on request and must be paid for at time of issue. Election of officers as per MAS constitution. Life members means members who have been in the club 20 years or more at the age of 65. Membership is at the discreation of the commitee. The commitee will have sole rights regarding Fianance and assets of the M.A.S. All fees to be fixed by the M.A.S commitee. All meetings to start at 8 pm prompt. Junior members up 18 to pay half subs, over 18 full membership.
