Finding Vanilla Octopus: Just for Giggles
http://www.findingvanillaoctopus.com/p/just-for-giggles.html
A comedy writer, I am not. But I definitely am inspired, every once in awhile, to focus on the grin-inducing side of the parenting experience. I'd like to highlight those posts here. An Early Father's Day (with poop). Way to Set a Good Example. How to Eat Hummus, Abby-style. The Wheels on the Bus Go. Leave it to Abby. Abby, Abby, Quite Contrary. One, Two, Three. Time Out! The Many Faces of Bathtime. When No Means Yes. When to Take your Toddler Seriously. How to Terrify Your Toddler Without Really Trying.

Finding Vanilla Octopus: July 2012

Tuesday, July 31, 2012. How to Spruce Up Your Baby Brother. I can definitely find the patience to let him take his time with figuring out the sleep stuff if I can spend more days seeing him so happy and independent. Also, Abby made a new discovery. That little Hello Kitty. Book she's been carrying around for the past month? It's full of "sickers." And they're just perfect for decorating little brothers. I had to peel them off for her, but she placed them all herself. And then proceeded to remove them.

Finding Vanilla Octopus: September 2012
http://www.findingvanillaoctopus.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 30, 2012. However, being confined to a touch-screen device with a very limited viewing space makes for a frustrating writing experience, so I'll be brief. I mainly wanted to report that it's been a crazy, exhausting weekend, but one overflowing with love, joy, and family. So worth it, every time. Congratulations Alyssa and Ed! Here's wishing you a whole lifetime of such happiness. Saturday, September 29, 2012. Four Weeks (July 20th, 2012). Perhaps, a little. How can you possibly take ca...

Finding Vanilla Octopus: No Love For Santa
http://www.findingvanillaoctopus.com/2012/12/no-love-for-santa.html
Saturday, December 15, 2012. No Love For Santa. I've already blogged today, but it's time for a happier post, so I'm "breaking the rules" (not that there are any, really) and doing a second one. If it means I hit my 200th post that much sooner, so much the better, right? So, despite the fact that I suffered major doubts about whether I could really handle venturing out alone in the 30 or so minutes that led up to our departure, Abby and I made it to that Christmas party. And we had a blast. We arrived ju...

Finding Vanilla Octopus: August 2012

Friday, August 31, 2012. Six Months, and So Spectacular! Abby's six-month photo shoot was more successful than most, so I got a lot of pictures out of it that I was rather pleased with. I dressed her up in her pretty princess dress that she received from Nana in her Easter basket. These were my favorite of the bunch. And there were random, fun moments to be had throughout the month. These included:. Bonding with lovies at naptime. And visits from far-away family. Also, though not pictured (we took a vide...

Finding Vanilla Octopus: Mobile Moments, 11/24-12/7
http://www.findingvanillaoctopus.com/2014/12/mobile-moments-1124-127.html
Sunday, December 7, 2014. Mobile Moments, 11/24-12/7. However, I do still have pictures to share and an abundance of Abby, Michael, and Mia-isms to record for posterity, so Ill just be putting them all together into a big two-weeker this time around. I think it works out, since I've been pretty lazy about taking pictures since we got back home from our Thanksgiving travels, anyway. As for those quotes- oh, the quotes! Feeling well enough to fill her Daddy's shoes again. In the past two weeks:. Attempting...

Finding Vanilla Octopus: Mommy Blues
http://www.findingvanillaoctopus.com/p/mommy-blues.html
One of the things I'd like to accomplish with this blog is to bring awareness to Depression, and the ways in which it complicates and magnifies many of the challenges that I face as a stay-at-home parent. I cannot claim to be a resource, but having suffered from Major Depression for most of my life, I hope to be able to share my unique perspective and experience. One resource I would like to highlight here is a blog called Postpartum Progress. Singin' About the Blues. The Season of Reflux. Div align="cen...

Sunday, November 23, 2014. Mobile Moments, 11/17-11/23. Tom and I have mostly been achy and fatigued, though I have been dealing with some annoying sinus issues as well. Abby, however, has developed a pretty nasty-sounding cough, and Mia's is even nastier-sounding, which is part of the reason I finally had Tom take her in to see the doctor a couple of days after Michael's revealing visit. By the end, everyone looked forward to "Mask time," and missed it when it was gone. Abby, what are you drawing? A: "C...
