Thursday, April 19, 2007. I just have no internet. I just moved house again so bear with me and we'll be back on track as soon as I can wire myself in again. Posted by Alex Raoul at 3:48 pm. Friday, April 06, 2007. For me, there's only one song suitable for moments such as these. The Beach Boys - 'God Only Knows'. Posted by Alex Raoul at 8:04 pm. Wednesday, April 04, 2007. Back in 1995 I was far too busy listening to Green Day and Foo Fighters to attempt to understand the likes of Pulp. With help from fo...

Sunday, March 25, 2007. Lately i've had some strange stuff stuck in my head, so I thought I'd share. First up, Rock Lobster, by a fledgling B-52s. Awesome psychobilly new wave surf rock from 1978. Listen out for the bit about the matching towels and the noise the narwal makes. This was long before they appeared in The Flintstones: The Movie as the BC-52s or collaborated with R.E. fucking M. on Shiny Happy People. The B-52s - 'Rock Lobster'. Slim Whitman - 'I Remember You'. Saturday, December 30, 2006. I can't understand how I didn't get into Deerhoof. Long ago. I'd heard them gushed about all over the shop but must have sampled the wrong songs or sumting. Anyway, my girlfriend Gem suggested we check them out at ATP and despite cack sound we were soon enchanted. They manage to get away with being great technical musicians without for a second coming across indulgent. Drummer Greg Saunier is classically trained but you'd never guess it. The Deerhoof. Friday On My Mind. Were ...

Be back soon though, with a sunny disposition and some hemp sandals. Here's another Duke Raoul. Mp3 to keep ya going. Duke Raoul - 'Too Tired To Struggle'. Posted by Alex Raoul at 3:00 pm. Thursday, October 19, 2006. Coming to the end of an album - Part 1. Of course it didn't help with records like Nevermind. Like you didn't buy it years ago).

Thursday, February 22, 2007. The Hardest Rocking Songs I Know - Vol. 2. Here's an excellent example of title perfectly matching song. I think it might even count as onomatopoeia. Catch these guys live if you can, they're LOOUUD. Clutch - 'Pure Rock Fury'. Pure Rock Fury here. Posted by Alex Raoul at 9:59 pm. Thursday, February 15, 2007. I miss you my Valentine. Duke Raoul - 'Enjoy the Silence' (Depeche Mode cover). I also just posted a new song on the Duke Raoul MySpace. Posted by Alex Raoul at 9:38 pm.

Thursday, June 21, 2007. Clor man's new project. RIP) is back, now under the guise of Barringtone. From early signs on the MySpace player it doesn't sound dramatically different from the blueprints set out by Clor. Fast intricate guitar passages, electro beats, effortless charm. Very exciting. No mp3s to share as yet but check out the Barringtone MySpace. Page for some tasters. Posted by Alex Raoul at 12:23 am. Thursday, June 14, 2007. Plan reunion gigs footage. Face of the Earth'. Monday, January 22, 2007. Ere Drowned in Sound. Article, Rage Against the Machine are reforming and headling the Coachella festival. I don't think i'm happy about this. More news when I'm party to it. Here's a beast from my easy favourite RATM album 'Evil Empire'. Rage Against the Machine - 'Bulls On Parade'. Posted by Alex Raoul at 6:37 pm. Sunday, January 21, 2007. Anyway the song's got a great sludgy slacker pop feel with washy guitars and great lyrics. Yo La Tengo - 'Sugarcube'. In the first of a ser...

Saturday, August 11, 2007. It was the sale of the century. Spurred on by serving Louise Wener from Britpop's. At work the other day, I've been revisiting the era with a strange sense of nostalgia. Strange because at the time I didn't really like Britpop. I was into Green Day and the Foo Fighters. Here's an episodic YouTube edit of the Britpop documentary 'Live Forever: The Rise and Fall of Britpop'. It looks pretty good. Posted by Alex Raoul at 10:43 pm. Brighton, United Kingdom. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Travis Morrison back on form! Well blow me if Dismemberment Plan leader Travis' new stuff isn't pretty fucking good. He's streaming the entire new Travis Morrison Hellfighters album 'All Y'all' on his website. It even sounds quite a bit likee the glorious 'Plan. Themselves. All post-punk guitars, quirky synths, time changes and soaring breakdowns. Importantly the lyrics are also much sharper than the previous solo album. Check out the free download of 'As We Proceed' on his site.

Tuesday, November 28, 2006. I think I've already made it known to those closest to me that I want 'Life On Mars'. Played at my funeral. But I just want to set it in stone. It brings me close to tears on it's own ayway so if the buggers aren't crying at the beginning. Other possible choices have included:. Gloomy Sunday' - Billie Holiday. It'd just be cruel). I Wanna Go Where the People Go' - The Wildhearts. Green Grass' - Tom Waits. So which musical gem do YOUUUUU. Want as the credits roll? Nick Cave see...
