1861 Donation Land Claim Map. It appears the claim stood unoccupied and possibly unused until 1867 when deed records indicate the Mastersons sold it to Richard and Sarah Morris for the sum of $1,000. Morris had made his own homestead claim on adjacent land to the east, and according to census records was living there in the 1860s. Interior work will begin next weekend when we will be removing the wall paneling and dropped ceiling panels to reveal the original ceiling height and wall and ceiling finishes.
