Mrs McMahon's 4th and 5th Grade Blog. Period 1 Social Studies. Period 2 Social Studies. Period 3 Social Studies. Period 4 Social Studies. Monday, May 6, 2013. Cinco de Mayo Celebration. We had an excellent celebration of Cinco de Mayo today. Each of our class rotations focused on an aspect of the Mexican culture. History, children's games, art, literature, and food were all part of our day. The fifth grade even performed the Mexican Hat Dance, and taught the fourth grade how to dance! PE Agenda May 19-23.

Holy Spirit Middle School Reading. Monday, September 3rd. Today in reading workshop the students started learning about their weekly assignments. Today we discussed the read-to-self activities; Thursday we will discuss word work; and Friday we will discuss work on writing. Tomorrow is class read aloud! Students need to read every night for thirty minutes. They also need to stay on top of weekly assignments and be ready to turn those in on Monday! Monday, August 26th. Thanks for working together so well!

Holy Spirit Middle School Reading. Monday, September 3rd. Today in reading workshop the students began reviewing the larger assignments for the year. Students are reading independently. These assignments are a way to hold them accountable for that reading. Today we discussed book talks; Thursday we will cover independent novel assignments, and Friday we will focus on book projects. Book talks for first quarter will begin the week of September 30th! The first roots quiz is Friday! Monday, August 26th.
