Faking the Books- Lali Puna. Mo Mong (Westheimer, just west of Montrose, next to Hollywood Video): I love this place. Visited too many times to count, most recently last night. Has everything you want in a restaurant: Enthusiastic (and quirky) waitstaff, cool atmosphere, great food, dangerously great drinks, cheap enough to eat at regularly. They have great bun (meat and veggies over vermicelli noodles), but so do lots of places, so I tend to skip them. Their sandwiches are also good, but again.

KEXP streaming radio- the only thing I miss from Seattle. The occasional BWI is good for the soul, no matter what "The Man" says. How about the wine bar, you ask? The place was quiet, but so was everywhere else. Probably related to the frickin frigidity outside. There are now a bunch of wine bars in town. Is this one different? Waiting Room- Fugazi (old skool, baby). I wuv my mommy. Ll=resources.media.press.view&news id=1099. For vino, we hit 2 bottles of the St Supery Virtu '03. This is a meritage blend of sauve blanc and semillion. Tasted good (with hints of that magical 03 sauve blanc) by itself, but a bit oakey and sweet. Paired with the seafood dishes (I think the Q had a clam chowder, but I blinked and it was gone) it smoothed out, opened up and gave us a giant tangerine kiss. Post a new comment.
