Helen's Random Thoughts

Saturday, July 18, 2015. Surprises and Random Encounters - in which I throw in a lot of unrelated photos. This is not a photo in Italy. This is, however, a roman coliseum in the city of Nimes in southern France. We saw it because our connecting train was cancelled due to a train workers' strike and we had to wait for the next one. Instead of feeling like I lost an hour during transit, I felt like I got handed an extra hour on a roman platter. Sometimes, there are surprises of a different nature. And Star...

Helen's Random Thoughts: A Photoblog: Our European Trip - Part 1

http://htrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-photoblog-our-european-trip-part-1.html

Saturday, July 11, 2015. A Photoblog: Our European Trip - Part 1. I'll be really honest. I find most travel photos, including my own, extremely boring. For whatever sentiments or emotions one may experience at the time the pictures are taken, the photos themselves invariably turn out to look just like a bunch of postcards one gets from souvenir stands, with no personality to them. So why am I posting a photo blog of our travels? By the way, it was Sunday. And we were at church. Technically. There's nothi...

Helen's Random Thoughts: A Generation Without a Past

http://htrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-generation-without-past.html

Friday, August 23, 2013. A Generation Without a Past. Often we study history through textbooks and encyclopedia, but rarely do we learn what it's like to be a person who lived day-to-day through those turmoils. No history book tells you what Chinese children did for school or ate for lunch under the Japanese occupation. No one reported how sorry the Nationalist soldiers looked when they marched into Beijing under Chang Kai Shek's leadership. Why am I here? Morrie answered him, "You bet.". August 23, 2013...

Helen's Random Thoughts: Dismantling

http://htrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2012/09/dismantling.html

Saturday, September 29, 2012. I woke up this morning and decided to take down my blog. There are many reasons for this, and I don't wish to go into them. Let's just say that I need to focus my energy somewhere else. If you are a regular visitor and feel very upset about this, please send me a note through the comment section. I probably won't change my mind, but it sure is nice to know that somebody out there really likes my blog. So sorry, Helen! Ill miss reading your blog.:(. So, so, so SAD! Would ther...

Helen's Random Thoughts: On Re-Entering the Atmosphere

http://htrandomthoughts.blogspot.com/2013/12/on-re-entering-atmosphere.html

Monday, December 30, 2013. On Re-Entering the Atmosphere. Other people do this all the time. You'll get used to the routine, and things will get easier. That is the other thing I tell myself. The kids will learn to cook, do laundry, and maybe pick up after themselves. The cats will learn to sort themselves out when they fight. Dust will learn to gather in the bin or become invisible. And I will learn to gather all. My things- glasses, umbrella, gloves, iPod- before getting off the bus. Helen T of PNW.

The Tsang's: Soon to be Unemployed

http://brittneyandellisontsang.blogspot.com/2011/04/whats-next.html

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Soon to be Unemployed. I then chose the path which is extremely easy in Hong Kong for westerners. Teaching English. These jobs are a dime a dozen. And with the exception of mine, they pay quite well, too. The hourly wage for a NET is anywhere from $30-$70 USD an hour. Not too bad right? That's what I thought. I even received my TEFL certificate for better job opportunities and ended up settling here at HKBU. I would love to be able to volunteer...

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Wednesday, October 6, 2010. Lovin' from My Oven. Made these for a friend's birthday last week.Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting. They definitely didn't turn out to be the prettiest shaped things, not sure what happened. But from what I hear, they tasted great! Then for one of our youth's going away party I made some Funfetti cupcakes. Slapped some homemade frosting on those bad boys and they were GONE! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Thursday, November 4, 2010. Hello My name is: NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS. Upon receiving my name badge a couple of weeks ago I immediately thought, "HOW DARE WE STEAL THIS IDEA FROM THE MORMONS! Our church even bought a machine specifically for making name badges on the spot so no one would miss out on the fun. I typically would feel uncomfortable at a church where everyone had a name tag on. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. A Year in Photos. LIFE FROM ...

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Monday, April 11, 2011. A Reflection on Easters Past. Easter 1993, with my Papa ( he passed away in '99). Sassy, I tell you. Easter 1992. My Mom and I, Easter 1990. Those sure were the days. I don't know how to quite explain it, but I truly miss those years. Even then, at such a young age, those memories stay with you. http://brittneyandellisontsang.blogspot.com/2011/04/deeper-conversation.html

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Friday, April 8, 2011. After my previous post. After a bit of clarification, she simply answered, "No, not really." I decided to ask "S" the same question. Then came the answer to my prayer. My grandmother is a Christian." BINGO! How rare is this? To find a girl from China who has a close family member who is Christian, what a gateway to deeper conversation! I'll leave you with a group photo from our Project 180 outreach last weekend. http://brittneyandellisontsang.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Thursday, January 6, 2011. What an awesome end to a wonderful year. December was PACKED with excitement and celebrations! I don't even know where to begin. Pictures say a thousand words, so I'll let them do most of the talking. December 21st was Sylvia's one year birthday! Ellison took her to the park and then we clipped her nails, gave her a bath and made her cry. December 22nd was a super happy day when we welcomed my mom and brother to Hong Kong for the first time!

http://brittneyandellisontsang.blogspot.com/2011/04/picture-says-thousand-words.html

The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Friday, April 1, 2011. A picture says a thousand words. I agreed not because I LOVE to teach English (we all know I don't), but because I've really felt God stirring something in me. As I have got to know them, I feel God continually urging me to share with them the message of Jesus Christ and his love, grace, kindness, power and mercy. But what am I afraid of? To be quite honest, I can't remember a time I've actually lead someone to Christ. Shocking right? The next ph...

writing the novel: It's been a long, long time

http://llewellynbook.blogspot.com/2011/11/its-been-long-long-time.html

Wednesday, November 9, 2011. It's been a long, long time. I've been away from the blog for a while. Actually, I've been going crazy writing poetry, since I discovered that I can write stuff people like. Now, if I could only sell some. So, in a week or two, I expect some more pieces of my puzzle to come together and continue the novel. Meanwhile, I'll keep the creative juices flowing with poetry. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Friday, December 3, 2010. You're young and have so much to learn. I've heard this phrase MANY times in my life especially from my mother, but I never expected to hear it from my supervisor. Let me tell you the story. Oh no she. didn't. So I smiled and said "Okay, thank you, Gladys. See you all later." (Kill 'em with kindness, right? April couldn't get here fast enough.luckily I'm taking my vacation in 3 weeks. The Tsang's: Our Life in Hong Kong. Thursday, March 31, 2011. I use to judge books by their covers, but now I don't have to. But, there was something about being made. To read that I despised. Plus, I always said God gifted me with the ability to speak (too often, too much) and my mother would probably say, "I couldn't shut-up long enough to sit down and read a book.". The best thing about it all.I no longer have to worry about the covers. March 31, 2011 at 2:36 PM. March 31, 2011 at 10:46 PM. Luetchford...
