The Thomsons: October 2012
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 4, 2012. I have newly entered into another chapter of parenthood. The first three or so years of Caleb’s life I have been teaching through rearing, nurturing and play. Now that he is four years old I can say not only am I teaching. My child, but I’m educating. Him I'm using my professional education to instruct him, so he can acquire skills. It's awesome. Caleb and I aren't always on the same page, but his recent interest is right up my alley. Screen playtime on Starfall ( letters.

The Thomsons: Waiting for the 6th Row
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2014/04/waiting-for-6th-row.html
Monday, April 7, 2014. Waiting for the 6th Row. I am refraining from Facebook during Lent, and yet again this time is showing to be a smorgasbord of productivity. First, I picked up crocheting again- sort of. 8221; I put a lid on my inner-perfectionist and forged ahead row after row. And wouldn’t you know it, my mom was right. (You’d think after almost 29 years with the woman I would wise up by now! I also accepted the 40 Bags 40 Days. During Spring Break we had a much needed Family Day at Zilker Park in...

The Thomsons: Where It's At
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2014/08/where-its-at.html
Friday, August 22, 2014. Got two turntables and a microphone. What do you want your children to know? WDYWYCK) I love typing this acronym because in my mind’s mic it sounds like the “widdy-wick”. Of turn tables being scratched. AnNnnnd, since the point of these questions is to keep records. For our posterity, it seems fitting, eh? All you have to do is ask this question regarding any topic- What do you want your. What does your child want their. I love this post. Friday, August 22, 2014 9:57:00 AM.

The Thomsons: March 2013
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 29, 2013. You just turned five and suddenly look like it overnight! You look so much like your dad. Blonde, straw-like hair that I have to wet, comb and gel fanatically each morning. Long arms, long legs, skinny. You act like your dad too. I laugh at your inquiries and quirks because I get a glimpse of what Daddy was like when he was your age. These days. You are stubborn. Just like me. While your similarities with your father bond you to him, our similarities cause dispute. To you one even...

The Thomsons: September 2012
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 14, 2012. School started up Mike removed the side of Nate’s crib turning it into a toddler bed. After the removal of the side Nate promptly tried to retrieve it and restore it back to its proper place. I could tell- it was going to be a loooooong night. And for those of you who have made this venture before know it isn’t just one. Night In my experience, it takes about two weeks. So Now my crib is, well, crib. In my opinion, so I don’t worry about him too much. At 20 months…. Can say- d...

The Thomsons: April 2012
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 1, 2012. Can you guess who? That's right, our adorable Caleb! He is getting so big. He asked for “A pigeon drive a bus” cake. We are huge Mo Willems fans over here at casa de Thomson. Caleb also chose the dinner- a natural coupling with the themed cake: hotdogs. He also picked the sides: bananas and chips. (check out those classic New England hotdog buns, yeesh). You know, typical geeky Caleb stuff. We sure do love him. I just was made aware. Most adults and fondant don't mix. ;).

The Thomsons: January 2013
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 24, 2013. A Thanksgiving of American Folk Hymns. By BYU Choirs and Orchestra has to be one of my favorite albums in our music collection. It has become our soundtrack during autumn, Pioneer’s Day, and our (comparatively comfortable) calamities. The opening song of the compilation is “ Saints Bound for Heaven. My favorite stanza goes (or so I thought):. And when to Jordan's floods, we are come, we are come,. And when to Jordan's floods, we are come;. Jehovah rules the tide,. The Jordan c...

The Thomsons: November 2012
http://meetthethomsons.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 8, 2012. Oh, the places you’ll go! Sure, when you hear this song. You might imagine Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Wieber striking poses, but I recall the first time I heard the tune. It was on my way back from a Market Basket expedition and I was consumed with concern, like usual, about the path to PhD when this song came on the radio. What a comfort! Of course. But, mostly, New England has grown on me. We started out with a pretty hefty list of graduate schools and whittled it down to eigh...
