Torkard Cider: May 2010

http://hucknallciderco.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 20 May 2010. A wander around the Torkard Estates. After journeying to one of the further-flung Torkard Estates. I was very pleased to find that the blossom had opened on some of our Tremlett's Bitter. Go mad and bear lots of fruit. Yarly. Our young dog in the background) can't understand why I spend so much time fiddling with the trees instead of playing with her. Looking at the photo, the amount of work still to be done to clear the rest of the plot before the autumn is daunting, but it will b...

Torkard Cider: Ownership of stuff on-line

http://hucknallciderco.blogspot.com/2010/11/ownership-of-stuff-on-line.html

Friday, 19 November 2010. Ownership of stuff on-line. The real one; not the sub-standard clones generated by ukcider's empire-building activities) and in particular as an Admin member of the Cider Workshop. I am also helping a number of folks local to me here in Nottinghamshire and across the border into Derbyshire with help vie email or at the end of a phone. However, if I started copying stuff out his blog, book(s) or whatever and started making money from it, I'm quite sure he wouldn't be very happy.

Torkard Cider: April 2009

http://hucknallciderco.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Saturday, 25 April 2009. Nothing nasty though, but as I was messing around under the Royal Somerset. Sharp apple tree t'other day, there was an unholy racket coming from over my head. Looking up, I saw a small bird with a beak full of wriggling grubs watching me closely - and complaining bitterly about my presence. Coal Tit. Having three entrances and compartments adjacent to one another, but it has been empty and unused for some 3 or 4 years now. No longer! Real Cider comes to Hucknall. Dog on the loose.

Dash of tannic crab-apples thrown in. Well they all sold out as well - by about 9pm! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

We manage 800 fruit trees, mainly heritage apple varieties, at the orchard we planted in Durley, Hampshire. Thursday, 24 October 2013. Picking the Sturmer Pippin apples. Picked a quarter ton of ripe Sturmer Pippins today, 24th October. It might have been OK to leave them on another week, they are about the last apple we pick, but they were parting from the tree with little difficulty and as this is the last opportunity I have to pick for 5 days and strong winds are forecast, I got on with it. Yesterday, ...

Fruitwise Heritage Apples: Late summer 2013 update

We manage 800 fruit trees, mainly heritage apple varieties, at the orchard we planted in Durley, Hampshire. Monday, 19 August 2013. Late summer 2013 update. Been a funny year, again. The late cold spring means plums and pears lost out again, we will have a few, and the apples are all about 3 weeks late and small due to the severe drought in July. Our light sandy soil does not retain moisture well and we cannot afford to irrigate. Hope to see some of you there. Kind regards to all. Catching up - Again!
