Sunday, October 21, 2012. So the two adults in the Schmidt House may have a new addiction. A friend of ours took us out to a country auction. It was only about 30 miles west of our house but sort of out in the country. We thought it might look really nice on top of the Schrank. We bough last year. And with a little TLC and a piece of wood to level it out.it will be perfect. The cost. $5.00 Yes, FIVE DOLLARS! The colors match much better in person they they do in this picture. And click on the word SCHRANK.

Sunday, December 04, 2011. Wir kauften einen Schrank! What is a Schrank you may ask? For the price and the quality it couldn't be beat. First, it came in pieces, this is the top piece sitting in the hallway. Imagine Ikea but in oak and all old school quality. A few side panels, back panels and shelves sitting on a hallway rug. Oddly enough that rug is from Ikea. Built in screw to secure it to the bottom and top. Another view of one end piece in place. Finished.And Megan in the picture for size.

Friday, June 17, 2011. Fireflies or Lightning Bugs. Okay - first of all these little guys don't really exist west of the Rocky Mountains. They are suppose to be in certain places, but not like they are on the east coast. Fireflies or Lightning Bugs are actually little tiny beetles. This is a picture of a tiny one. They grow about 2 to 3 times larger then this guy. But not much bigger. Each of those is a firefly. And of course we captured a few - brought them inside in a mason jar and took a few pictures.

Monday, December 26, 2011. Well Christina woke up at some ungodly time of 4:30 for Christmas. We have a rule in our house. The stockings are free grabs but you don't wake up Mom and Dad until they come down. Megan found this little thing on Pintrest and decided to make one. You basically take a loaf of bread and cover it with sugar, cinnamon and butter. Bake it for a while and then cover it with some icing. It's not good for you.but it tastes wonderful. And even some very cool old houses. Currently owned by a great, great, great grandson of the original owner.
