With A Hopeful Heart: Recipe: Strawberry Rhubarb Slush
http://withahopefulheart.blogspot.com/2015/08/recipe-strawberry-rhubarb-slush.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Recipe: Strawberry Rhubarb Slush. If you have rhubarb in abundance like we do in our garden, you'll find this at least uses some of it. I recently posted a photo on Instagram of my evening treat and thought I'd share the recipe here. It's my go-to recipe to help cool off in the summertime that I've been making for a number of years now. We generally fill our glasses to 2/3 full and then top it off with one of the beverages of choice:. 2 cups Strawberries (I used fresh this year).

With A Hopeful Heart: First Day....Eighth Year
http://withahopefulheart.blogspot.com/2014/08/first-dayeighth-year.html
Tuesday, August 26, 2014. First Day.Eighth Year. We're off and running for another year. We've started school and were ready to get back and settled into the routine. Or at least I am. I had to do some counting on my fingers the other day when I recounted the years and realized it's our 8th year already. The big kids each also received a small Lego set (spoiled, I know) and the little students a coloring book and notebook. They all seemed pleased. Everyone was diligent in their work and the little. Augus...

With A Hopeful Heart: When God Shows Up To Fill Our Cup
http://withahopefulheart.blogspot.com/2015/08/when-god-shows-up-to-fill-our-cup.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. When God Shows Up To Fill Our Cup. Summer and life are busy, crazy things. Summer life and pregnancy are just I don't know what. They're something. This isn't a new role, but it feels like a different one. These changing seasons, whirling emotions. Then there are radiant moments when God shows up in the form of other human beings. He shows me the loveliness that surrounds me and a village that fills the voids. He gently nudges and plans fall into place. Read more about those smile...

With A Hopeful Heart: February 2015
http://withahopefulheart.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 23, 2015. Sometimes things happen and days turn into weeks around here. Have you noticed? While I had the best of intentions to post birthday and Valentine's photos last week, a bad tummy bug hit a couple of us here. It's odd for me to get sick and then even though I was technically 'down' and had so much time on my hands, I still wasn't feeling well enough to even pick up a book to read. So there goes any productivity, even on the sickbed. Sad and unfortunate. The following day was Vale...

With A Hopeful Heart: Friday Photos
http://withahopefulheart.blogspot.com/2015/06/friday-photos.html
Friday, June 5, 2015. We're winding down our first official week of summer time here at our house. It was kind of a rough start for a number of reasons and too many random things going on. I'm looking toward next week to iron out some summer guidelines. And perhaps more restful/peaceful days. Some of us were quite ready for the official school calendar to close (see above). Teacher included. In ways it does seem that the new year had begun not that long ago, but that was WAY back here. Learning to say no.

Homeschooling - A Great Liberal Arts Education. Tuesday, December 6, 2011. This morning, as I headed to town, I listened to snippets of public radio extolling Portland State University. For re-engineering their liberal studies program. The other broad change was a new emphasis on students learning from each other. Lecture courses by a pontificating professor were discouraged. Students started leading discussions more. The motto of Portland State is: Let Knowledge Serve the City. It's amazing how this typ...

Long Time, No Post. Monday, August 22, 2011. Life Wow. No, I have not had a frog in my throat. Though, I have had one in my living room. Marcel thought a drinking cup was a hospitable place for his new-found pet. Mom snapped a shot and then educated him on toad habitats. Then the toad was ushered out-of-doors. So, what have. We been up to? Spending time with Gemma. Wrapping up another session of gymnastics. 171; Older Post. Long Time, No Post. August 23, 2011 at 1:11 PM. August 23, 2011 at 1:53 PM. I wok...

Tuesday, December 28, 2010. I woke up with a headache. I knew I should motivate and get up but I just wanted to lay there for a while. The boys were up a bit before me and headed downstairs for a little pre-breakfast Wii. Jerzy was recovering from a cold and was happy to wallow with me, so we enjoyed each others company and just continued snoozing. That was all about to change. A boy came up the stairs, with his brothers quickly behind him, shouting, "The fish tank is leaking! What do you mean leaking.

Thursday, May 16, 2013. Parenting is not an easy job. Some days, it saps every ounce of energy I have until, at the end of the day, I wimpier the petition: "Please, just go to bed.". Parenting is about way more than simply keeping these kids alive or shuttling them to swim team. Being a full-on parent means training them morals, values and respect for others. It means teaching and leading by example the works of mercy. And, most importantly, encouraging our children to become saints. As a TTM (Totally To...
