7QTs Infertility Awareness Week. April 24, 2015. April 24, 2015. This week is Infertility Awareness week, so here are 7 quick takes on the subject of infertility. During our engagement, and after a few months and a referral to a NaPro. Doctor, we learned that my hormone levels meant that conceiving naturally could be nearly impossible. We were told, however, that typically this type of fertility issue could be treated with hormone injections. Could challenge us in ways we wouldn’t dream. Accept...3 The c...

Mama Knows, Honeychild. Back in the Day. A Little About Me. You are here: Home. July 29, 2014. So The Edel Gathering was beyond fantastic, and I’mma tell you about that later.but right now, we need to talk about what happened to me at the airport. Because it was serious. I told them I would love to join them on Saturday night for more blog reading, as I would love to hear my passages read to me (and possibly reenacted), but nothing really happened with that. But back to the story. I laughed my way throug...

Splendor in the Home: The Aftermath of Miscarriage
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2011/09/aftermath-of-miscarriage.html
Thursday, September 22, 2011. The Aftermath of Miscarriage. I'm so so sorry," she finally said, "but there's no heartbeat." I sucked in my breath, inaudibly, to hold back the tears that were threatening to well up. I would not cry in front of strangers. I didn't want to have to walk out of the building with everyone looking at me, knowing. This morning, I looked back at a calendar to get an idea of roughly when it happened. It was probably in the very week that I found out. I should've listened to my gut...

Splendor in the Home: 7 Quick Takes (Vol. 45)
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2015/03/7-quick-takes-vol-45.html
Friday, March 13, 2015. 7 Quick Takes (Vol. 45). You know how sometimes you don't blog for a really long time, and then it feels like you can't write a post until you have something to say that's really important or profound, but all you have are those usual little bits of everyday life that just aren't as interesting or timely anymore? You try to say something like, "two months ago, we played in the snow! That's kind of what's kept me from writing until these Quick Takes today. I re-painted our dining r...

April 17, 2015. Linking up with the lovely Kelly. For some #7QT fun! 1 We bought a house! We move in June and could NOT be more excited. 2 The house has a lot of oak woodwork. Like, a ridiculous amount. Please, look at that amount of woodwork. 5 Our little lady has figured out how to climb stairs, sit down, go down the slide, and get off of the slide all on her own. This makes afternoons at the park make mama’s back hurt a *little* bit less. And I are finally getting ready to book plane tickets to Edel.

Sliding Into Summer – perfectlytara

June 10, 2015. June 10, 2015. I’m going to link up with Ana. And steal her format and content idea. Here’s a quick overview of what summer is looking like for us! Because I think they run big so the size makes me feel good and they work for my new post-Kateri body shape. Also, never ever buy from Gap unless it’s 40% off or you’re doing it wrong), my Saltwater sandals. Ever led anyone wrong? And a t-shirt. All day, errday. Our kitchen is completely packed except for one straggler. It is ah-mazing. The...

Splendor in the Home: The Kiddos
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-kiddos.html
Saturday, January 17, 2015. Just some updates on the people who have been consuming all my blogging time! Is still ever ever ever so slowly learning to read. He's doing a little better these days at imaginative play, which I feel has never come very naturally to him. Rosie. It, and have been playing store very regularly since. Recently, he was frustrated because we've stopped buying juice. Me: "Well, juice has a lot of sugar, Sly, and it kind of makes kids crazy.". First snow of the year. Maria must be m...

Splendor in the Home: A Quick and Cheap "IKEA hack" for Cloth Diaper Supplies
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2015/01/a-quick-and-cheap-ikea-hack-for-cloth.html
Tuesday, January 20, 2015. A Quick and Cheap "IKEA hack" for Cloth Diaper Supplies. So I found a good use for an IKEA item. But why do people call these things "hacks"? Basically, I picked something up at IKEA, and I'm using it as really convenient storage for my cloth diapering accessories.so because that's not necessarily the use that the manufacturer intended, does one get to call it a "hack"? Then last time I went to IKEA I got one of their wall-storage systems. It's been working out so perfectly.

Splendor in the Home: The March For Life
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2011/01/march-for-life.html
Monday, January 24, 2011. The March For Life. Hold him during the 4-hour ride? What if he cried the whole time. Then for the March, would he ride in a stroller (another thing I'd have to take on the bus), or would I carry him in the Baby Bjorn (talk about being sore afterwards! Then there's the freezing weather to contend with - really don't want to have my baby outside for hours. And, maybe the biggest deterrent, what happens when he gets hungry? I can't just nurse him during the March! Whoa, now. M...

Splendor in the Home: Cloth Diapering Part I: The “Whys"
http://ourordinarylifeextraordinary.blogspot.com/2011/01/cloth-diapering-part-i-whys.html
Friday, January 7, 2011. Cloth Diapering Part I: The “Whys". Diapers a day. And we still keep some in the diaper bag for traveling. Why we like cloth diapers:. 1 They cost less. The average cost of diapering a baby in disposables until he's potty trained is $1500-$2500 (estimates vary widely from different sources! Thing I haven’t accounted for yet is the cost of laundering the cloth diapers. Unfortunately, I don't have any clear facts on this one. Electric water heater: approx. $0.3. Of sense for us fin...
