I fully embraced that philosophy, going sans-Alannah to the United States for a week-long business trip and subsequent (mandatory) few days of R&R in Atlanta and New York. Things started off with what I thought would be a bang. Around the corner from my Atlanta digs was the celebrated South City Kitchen. All this time, I'd had shrimp and grits many times before. Today’s lesson is about Eugène François Vidocq, the father of modern policing. Monsieur Vidocq started his life as a run-of-the-mill 19th century thief and served many prison sentences in various French towns.
