https://hungrykyle.wordpress.com/2009/01
The Hungry Kyle: Adventures in All Things Food. One digestive episode at a time. Monthly Archives: January 2009. January 4, 2009. First, I shall apologize for not blogging in about 6 weeks or so. My 6 year old laptop finally kicked the bucket, so I was out of a computer for a while. However, I’m the proud owner of a shiny new Macbook. And I’m back in business. Attempt #1: Making pizza for Valerie. And Sarah. For the dough, I used this recipe. Attempt #3: While at my parents’ house for Christmas, I ...

The Hungry Kyle: Adventures in All Things Food. One digestive episode at a time. 2nd Annual Low Country Boil. Bagels again →. May 6, 2009. As my first foray into making bagels. It doesn’t require much flour, nor does it require an over night fermantation. The bagels turned out really good, but they weren’t perfect. I think next time, I’m going to experiment with a different recipe. This entry was posted in Baked Goods. 2nd Annual Low Country Boil. Bagels again →. 3 responses to “ Bagel Time. 2nd Annual L...

The Hungry Kyle: Adventures in All Things Food. One digestive episode at a time. Memorial Day eating →. May 17, 2009. I ate all the bagels that I made the first time around. So I needed to whip up some more. This time, I used the highly acclaimed Peter Reinhart recipe as described here. Kneading bread dough by hand is fun and all for like 2 minutes, but then it gets really old and tedious. Maybe one day…. This entry was posted in Baked Goods. The Hungry Kyle: Adventures in All Things Food. One digestive episode at a time. Southern Fare: Biscuits and Gravy. 2nd Annual Low Country Boil →. April 19, 2009. The 25 lb roast ground up to about 2.1 to 2.2 pounds of ground beef. The burgers (for which I failed to take a final shot of) turned out excellent. You could certainly tell the difference in the home ground beef. Why grind your own meat? This entry was posted in Meat. Southern Fare: Biscuits and Gravy. 2nd Annual Low Country Boil →.

Bikes Wine. Food. Peeps. Pics. Life. Dropping my words in your face. Friday, December 5, 2008. I Am Drinking F%$&ing Merlot! Slowly recovering from the bashing it received in the movie Sideways. Merlot is showing promise in two up-and-coming wine regions in the United States. Tonight I was fortunate enough to taste two wines made from two distinct climates, more than 3,000 miles apart. One of my favorite vineyards in NC, McRitchie Winery. When paired with dark chocolate, more interesting flavors emerged&...

Bikes Wine. Food. Peeps. Pics. Life. Dropping my words in your face. Thursday, November 20, 2008. Cabernet Franc: Love at First Sip. With so much to learn about wine, I could ramble on and on. Instead, I'll try to keep it simple. Let's talk about one of my favorite grapes. I went to a Loire Valley Tasting. Recently where I was actually disappointed with most of the Cab Francs presented. That is not to say that all Loire Valley Cab Francs are dismal. I have had very affordable, very tasty wines fr...The h...

Sunday, December 13, 2009. Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans. This recipe is from Epicurious here. It is quick, easy, and very good. I make it with rice on the side. Bikes Wine. Food. Peeps. Pics. Life. Dropping my words in your face. Monday, November 3, 2008. Funny Faces of NC Politics. As I diligently work through my sample ballot and candidate credentials, I can't ignore some of the more distinctive faces of NC politics. If I had nothing else to go by but pictures alone, these candidates would get my vote. This classic pose evokes a Murrow-esque significance. The muted portion of American flag in the back says "I'm serious about small government.". Why I Like Him:.

Also known for its historic castles and rustic landscape, the Loire is also home to France's 3rd largest AOC ( appellation d'origine contrôlée. The region is easily split into three regions:.
