Quick and Healthy “Fried Rice” « hungrylikeawolfe
https://hungrylikeawolfe.wordpress.com/2013/08/18/quick-and-healthy-fried-rice
All things food, cocktails, and fun. Quick and Healthy “Fried Rice”. Quick and Healthy Fried Rice. One package of white rice (NOTE: I used Comet Rice, but got that in the Outer Banks. If you cannot get this rice, simply use a box of white rice). 1 Package or 3 cups of finely chopped veggies (can be some variation of peppers, red onion, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, or any other veggies you deem delicious). 2 tablespoons vegetable oil any additional needed in the wok. All things food, cocktails, and fun. Newer posts →. Last year, a good friend of mine and fellow blogger. Recommended that I try making his peach brandy. So I put a very small amount in a shot glass and took a sip. Mint Peach Brandy Tonic. 1 Put four to five mint leaves in a glass and muddle them to release the oils. 2 Fill the glass with ice. 3 Add 2.5 ounces of homemade peach brandy. 4 Next add tonic water (I prefer Q Tonic because it has a cleaner taste). 5 Stir vigorously to combing the drink. https://hungrylikeawolfe.wordpress.com/2014/10/01/tortilla-soup-with-black-beans
All things food, cocktails, and fun. Tortilla Soup with Black Beans. What we ended up with was a light, easy, flavorful tortilla soup! The recipe is below, but I will add the caveat that it can easily be amended to accomodate different taste buds. Kate’s Tortilla Soup with Black Beans. 4 cups chicken stock. NOTE: I use bullion cubes, which requires two cups of boiling water for every cube, but any chicken stock is fine). 2 chicken breasts, roasted and shredded. 1 large onion, diced. For the Black Beans:.

Appreciating the culture of drink one sip at a time. Four Beers to Spring For. I’ve been on something of a beer-buying binge this May and June and have enjoyed more than my fair share of new releases and old favorites. I know this because my recycle bin has been filling up faster than usual that’s always a sure-fire way to measure. As the temperatures rise and summer settles in the first day of summer has officially arrived! Here are a few late springtime/early summer favorites for 2014. 8211; Old Bust H...
Devils Backbone Vienna Lager | The Hip Flask

Appreciating the culture of drink one sip at a time. Devils Backbone Vienna Lager. Every so often I find a beer so delicious, it magically disappears. I open one and perhaps another, then amazingly they’re gone! Where did they go I certainly didn’t drink them all myself! Devils Backbone Vienna Lager is one such beer two six packs have managed to vanish in as many weeks. I think my fridge may have been burglarized. This brings us to Devils Backbone. The lager’s characteristics are reminiscent of Vie...

Appreciating the culture of drink one sip at a time. Closing the Book on 2013. But I won’t get ahead of myself. December, even with its hurry and bustle, still remains and was indeed enjoyable. I spent time off from work, with family near and far, and poured a fine drink or two. So before the clock strikes midnight and 2013 concludes, here are a few late year discoveries and favorites. To you and yours, Happy New Year. 8211; PUNCH. This new online wine and spirits magazine ( punchdrink.com. Feature earli...
SIA Blended Scotch Whisky | The Hip Flask

Appreciating the culture of drink one sip at a time. SIA Blended Scotch Whisky. I’m always keeping my eyes open for new and interesting whiskies, particularly single malt scotches or blends. My tastes skew toward darker flavors, but I’m never one to discriminate. SIA is a “blend of Speyside, Highland and malt and grain whiskies, specifically created to appeal to today’s modern palate.”. What did SIA want to be? I tried to piece together the information: the multiple flavors; the crowdfunding; the “...
The Cave Floods | The Hip Flask

Appreciating the culture of drink one sip at a time. When it rains, it pours an adage of life everyone experiences at one point or another. When things are bad they often get worse. Bad news piles on more bad news; difficulty can never be uncomplicated or simply solved. In addition to this time honored phrase, I’d like to introduce a new permutation, based on a particularly unfortunate event that only recently concluded:. It pours, even when it doesn’t rain. So now, roughly three months later, the calm a...

Musings of an expat, vegan, scientist living in Amsterdam. Repatriating: an ex-expat’s dilemma. Living abroad is a fantastic opportunity. So much that the thought of moving back “home” can be quite unsettling. In this blog, a fellow scientist turned writer describes her headspace regarding the possibility of repatriating to the USA. Music | Hungry Lights
Heavy Is The Crown. Hungry Lights is the solo music project of Justin Bonitz. The plan is to release five concept albums all surrounding a character named, Prill, who is a middle-aged fisherman on a quest to better his life. But everything he does just adds to his own delusion and lack of self-worth. The music is based off a five book series I have been writing called, From Windfall To Hell. Switch to mobile view.
