Hunting on the Back Forty. Monday, March 23, 2009. This Saturday we did some shooting with a friend of my dads. He brought his 22 pistol and his 45 pistol. I shot both and boy was that cool! We did rapid fire and all kinds of fun stuff. We also shot my dad's muzzle loader. Let me tell you that thing is LOUD! Then we shot bow for a while. I got 4 bulls eyes. We didn’t have the best weather today, it was rainy and a high in the low 40’s, but I couldn’t wait too much longer to set it up. We walked ridges, calling and stopping to listen, through vast public lands in SE Montana. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Where has the time gone? I promise to update this blog more often. The winter of 2010 and the Spring of 2011 were horrible here in NE Montana. We had record snowfalls in the winter with subsequent flooding in the spring. I am glad to say that the countryside is slowly returning to normal. The game situation is still bleak. I like cottontails, havent tried one of the big jack rabbits yet, they look like they would be tough. Let me know if you have tried them.
