Scribblings by Paul Mison. Okay so here’s the lowdown. I found 4 sets of medium format negatives while I was thrift shop hunting a few weeks ago. They were sitting in a box of old vintage photographs in these plastic sleeves, and from what I could tell, they had been taken sometime in the 50’s. Some of Danh’s scenes look quite political. They are also a deliberate fusion of the old and the new gently pressing the viewer to think about how fast change is occuring upon a relatively infant city. Scribblings by Paul Mison. Pacific Rim, Tumblr, and me. Why would I see a film three times? On Saturday, I saw Pacific Rim in the cinema. I’d also seen it on the weekend of release, in IMAX 3D, and in mid July, in 2D. Evidently, there’s something I like about it. I think it’s Tumblr, and fandom more generally. On Tumblr that I realised other people had noticed the same thing. The fine folk of Tumblr had also noticed many similarly interesting decisions: the respect. Over strength, visual intelligence.
